I don't get it...the powder brown and blue tangs are so much more attractive.
It's rare...I understand, but it doesn't do anything for me.
Here's the kicker, someone outside the hobby (and most in the hobby) will never even know that it's rare, they'll be more excited about the $30 ocellaris...
Best of luck though, and enjoy.
I have always liked the Zebrosoma family of tangs, They are personaly my favorite fish. I do also love the Gold Rim tangs as well. But i have owned every other Zebro tang so far and I always told myself when the time is right I will pick up a Gem tang. Although they were cheaper about 13 years ago when I first found out about them, they were still out of my price range. Being that i was only 17 at the time and I didn't have a real job.I don't get it...the powder brown and blue tangs are so much more attractive.

Yes I know most people don't know the difference between one fish to another, but I'm not most people and just about any other reefer would recognize any different fish being a wrasse, clown or whatever. But hey how about all the money in corals and everything else you have and someone comes over and goes "oh look its nemo"Hey, I'm not saying you shouldn't have gotten it...I just said it's not my cup of tea.
If you got the fish for YOU, then I'm all for it, by all means enjoy it!
Buying living creatures just because they are rare is dumb. Most people don't know the difference between a rare fish and any other fish, and eventually fish die.
As I said, best of luck and enjoy the fish.

^You didn't bother to READ my post, or you interpreted in a way that suited your need to post a graph that you find particularily funny.
Allow me to clarify for the cheap seats:
Buying it ONLY because it's rare, to have as a status symbol, and not because he likes the fish would be dumb.
If he bought it because he likes it, then it's a good buy!
It sounds like he had his heart set on it from when he was planning a big tang setup, so I'm all for it in this instance.
that is kinda funny MOM, lol. I never buy something on impulse or because it's rare. I mean I have regular brown polyps in my tank, not because I like them but the GF loves them. I also like the hairy shrooms which aren't outrageous in price. And I have yet to buy a scoly because they have no appeal to me. So like they say Beauty is in the Eye of the beholder.Yes, I did read it. You dont seem to understand that your proclamations of how smart people are, based on their spending isnt useful to anyone, anywhere. Unless you are that persons accountant. Or mom. Wait, is that you, mom? Its hard to tell from way up here in the cheap seats.
So like they say Beauty is in the Eye of the beer-holder.
