the typical birdsnest like the one atl sells is not the same imo. ora actually already has this coral too and it is a seriatapora hystrix, but if you look at this closely it is probably a guttatus and much nicer than that skinny branched hystrix you see for $20 at every local lfs (I have the hystrix in my tank and the colors are very difficult to obtain). there are also different dna corals out there with similar basic colorations, but one will look gorgeous and fluorescent in your tank and the other will look like a t*rd.
I'll buy it and let ya'll know how it looks soon! it will retail for between 80 and a hundred just like their other limited release corals.

the store I work for can't keep certain ones of the new ones in stock @ 90, I can't imagine the price being lower. I guess in fl there is a fishstore on every corner. there are only two lfs within 50 miles of here. the one that used to sell them at $60 was about a hundred miles away and went out of business.

yup we in florida are somewhat blessed on pricing and availability,our LFS has multiples of the new stuff and the most i have ever paid for an ORA frag was $60 and that was for the red planet.i imagine this new coral will cost us approx $40 locally.divers den charges more because they add in some of the shipping costs to the coral so you think you are getting cheap shipping.we dont have a fish store on every corner by any means,just a few decent ones and one great one

If it goes for over $40 I ain't buying it. It's nice but not $80 nice ,I'd rather get a red planet or pearlberry instead. Plus I already have a purple polyped hystrix with yellowish base. My LFS that deals ORA is selling red planets for $54.95 so this should be reasonable. Pearlberrys are $70 and torts $45.

I doubt you can get it for $40, the stores probably pay close to that.

that varient has been around for years. i seriously hope anyone doesn't think about paying $90 for a frag of this.
i have seen different variations of basically the same coral though. ones that have pointed tips that grow long thin branches (same thing as the ponape birdnest?).
and ones that have rounded tips, and grow shorter thicker branches.
whatever the species difference, they all look pretty similar.
the one on pacific east aquaculture looks identical to ORA's......for half the price. and even at $40, thats a stretch for this coral IMO.

IMO, the ORA fad is wearing off. stores are soon going to find themselves stocking $90+ corals in their frag tanks for months on end with no buyers. i already know of several stores that have 5-10 of these ORA LE $90+ corals sitting in their tanks all summer and fall with no buyers. and they have no intention of buying more ORA corals until the previous ones sell.

I've got the Dr. Mac's Glowing Fingers Seriatopora too. Mine doesn't quite look like his picture yet. It had a little RTN shortly after getting it so I could only salvage a couple tips. It's finally grown out enough so I can just tell that the tips are different colored, but white, not green yet.
I'm thinking the Bird of Paradise is a variant of the Tub's Purple Polyp - under different lighting setups they can look either very cool or almost identical to a standard pink birdsnest.
