I have a 90 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump.My lighting is 2 VHO super Atinics with 2 250 watt ushio 10k metal halides.I have only 4 fish 1 hippo tank and 1 yellow tank and two mated perc clowfish.I have two brittle stars and a sallylight foot crab,I have tons of snails.And for flow I have a dual overflows doing about 1000 gallons an hour .I have two votechs on each end and 2 Hydor Korillias on the back wall.I am running a ATI Bm 160 skimmer.I have a H&S 110 Denitrator.I have a MTC PRO Cal Reactor to maintain ALK and Calcium.I also run a Chiller in the warmer weather.I hope that helps a bit.
It sounds like you have a great system. If you can sucessfully keep sps, then you should be fine. If your tank is mature, you should be able to care for any types of clams.
The nicest clam to buy is the one you really like. Everyone has differnt tastes and whatever suites your taste you should get. I prefer a tank raised one about 2.5 inches long.
Be careful with that Sally Lightfoot crab and your clam! I had one that wouldn't leave my clam alone so he went back to LFS. All clams now are tank raised/aquacultured in a facility, and if you do see one for sale at any LFS that is claimed to be a "wild clam" please don't buy it. Baby clams are more likely to survive in your tank if this is your first try with a clam.
