I have been in this hobby for over 20 years and it never ceases to amaze me.My 120 gal tank sits in my home office.. it brings me a much needed relaxation from a long day at work. However every now an again I don't know if it is OCD , I am crazy.. I don't know. I can stare at my tank and see a rock or a coral that I just might think it will look or do better on the other side or lower or make room for new things. you get my point.. 1 move tuns into 2 turns into 3 and now its midnight... the quest for the ultimate Aquascape is on....LOL wife thinks Iam crazy she just can't seem to fully understand.. hopefully Iam not the only one..

Happy Reefing

Nah, Man. You aren't alone. LOL. It's either me moving things around for look, better location for lighting, corals have grown into eachother, etc...

Last major move I made was when I re-located my goby/shrimp pair that I thought were long gone. I was feeding my tank one day, and the goby shot out and got some food. Moved the hammer coral just so slightly so I could see my long-lost friends, and next thing I knew, I was relocating different corals to different places, and powerheads so they won't affect the newly placed coral, and on, and on, and on...

Haha...

Best cure for that is to start a new tank. You will be so busy, you won't have time to mess with it.
I started a new build in August and my reef has had nothing but WC and algae cleaning. Looks better than i has in months!

Constantly having your hands in your tank, changing things; whatever it may be, is one of the worst habits you can acquire in this hobby. I'm guilty, most of us are. It's hard to break the habit, especially in a new system -- at least for me. It's really hard to appreciate how much instability we force onto our systems by constantly messing with them, it's only something you notice after being away for a period of time; be it a week or two, as long as your system was set up for success on your departure, you'll notice the difference when you return.

On my old tank I kicked the habit as the tank matured, color got better and growth exploded. Not too long after this I broke the tank down to start my new venture and I'm back to square one where I can't stop tinkering.

Hi, my name is Josh and I'm a reef addict.

My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy "playing with my rocks" for hours on end. I did stop putting my hands in the tank the past few months and everything is so much happier.

lol I did this just last night while visiting my Mom. She has a tank I setup for her a while ago and as I was looking at it, I decided to move a few plants around, so they would have more room to grow. Well....started at 7pm and left her house about midnight when I was done re-aquascaping the entire tank

You're not alone!
