The passing of Pink Floyd The Grateful Dog

This is O.T. and I don't care in the least. I'm the V.P. and you can BITE ME! My best friend, Mr. Pink Floyd The Grateful Dog (known affectionatly as "Mr.Foo", "Floyd", "The Foo-man", and the pee-champion of the world, has taken the eternal celestial dirt nap after 16.5 years as my loyal companion and best friend. He died in my arms-- literally (I would not have it any other way)-- on September 12, 2006 at 12:30 AM. I was actually on the way to have him put down at the emergency animal clinic when he died. Needless to say, I am heartbroken and it has taken me this long to post this because I got too choked-up to talk about it.

His hobbies were peeing on stuff, being a general cremudgeon and grumpy old bastard, rubbing on stuff while growling before peeing on the same stuff, and cuddling with me-- the only person he ever really connected with. What can I say... I like to growl and pee on stuff too. I can't begin to express the things we have been through together and so much of my life is tied to this dog. Damn it hurts but I have known this was coming for a long time but it doesn't make it any easier.

Why do we put ourselves through this knowing in advance that these animals are ALWAYS going to pre-decease us??? At least my cacatoo will outlive me and my anemone CERTAINLY will. Not the same though. Dogs are special.

Here's to the Foo-man. God rest his soul.

Man, this sucks. I had a dog die once...well she was murdured, but thats besides the point, so I know how you feel.

Sorry about your loss.

Mom says that shes sorry too.

You have the right to post whatever you want thats part of your job.

You know Im sorry to hear this as well, just had to post anyway.

Condolences Jason.
I lost both my "kids" in the last 7 months. One we knew it was coming the other we didn't and both broke our hearts.
Why do we put ourselves through this knowing in advance that these animals are ALWAYS going to pre-decease us???
Because of everything they give us while we have them...but you know that.

Jason, I am so very sorry for your loss. Loosing a family memeber is so difficult, these special fellas hold such a special place in our heart and nothing will ever filll that void. The great thing you do have is the wonderful memories. I still feel my loss after 2 years, it will never be the same, but it would have never been quite right without them. I am so thankful to have had my wonderful fella, as I know you feel the same, that special place in your heart will always be there.
God bless

I've shed a few tears this weekend over a neighbor's (mistreated) dog; now I shed a few for you. There is nothing that touches me more than animals, especially dogs. "Mr. Foo" was lucky to have you as his person.

AWW, so sorry Jason. We had to put our 15 year old Golden Retriever to sleep early this summer so know exactly how you feel. :( Brian and I still look for her, she was always a part of our relationship because I got her the year before we started dating. Mr Foo was lucky to have someone to love him like you did. So many dogs don't.

Lana

Thanks for the codolences gang. BTW-- the "bite me" was tounge-in-cheek, sorry if anyone took it seriously and if you did... well.. BITE ME!:D
