+1 to what everyone else is saying - use an ATO.
In my case I have a Red Sea Reefer 250 and use the stock gravity fed ATO. That continuously keeps the tank topped up and salinity stable. I keep the ATO full automatically using an ATK from a remote RODI reservoir so never have to manually top anything up. All I have to do is clean the gravity fed float valve every couple of months.
