The saving of a frag

I recently got numerous frags from Joe D to help rebuild my tank after the storm whick knocked out my electricity for two days. Unfortunately we were in Pa for the weekend.Parents weekend at my daughter's college. So no one was available to turn on the generator.
Now to cut to the chase....When we got home last night around 11 my moon lights were on. Every 70 year old reefer loves to look at his corals with those polups really extended. I, with my keen vision noticed one of my new frags was missing from the disk! Shoot! I'll call Joe and get another. Around midnight as I was preparing for nite nite I went to my fish room to see if i could locate the frag. With a flashlight I spotted it lying on the sand in back of my rockwork. No way to reach it without ripping my aquascaping apart.
Now stay with me for the resue operation. I took a metal hanger, straightened it out, bent it so I could reach the frag. I then put some gel glue on the tip and with the skill of a brain surgeon slowly positioned the end of the hanger on the base of the frag. I let it harden for 5 minutes and pulled the frag out. Then reglued it to the disk. So far Mr frag looks fine.
What a great hobby!!

That might have been with skill of a surgeon, but if you had not been clever in the first place, you'd have never rescued that frag. Good job!

And thanks for the idea! I've needed that in the past, and waved goodbye to some good frags as I looked at them fallen into places I could never have retrieved them. GREAT idea. Thanks for sharing!

Hats off to you, Neil! It'd be great to see a picture of your 120 sometime. How are those corals doing that you picked up for your son's tank?
