In Memoriam
A couple of days ago I put up a post called "Attn Tang Police".
In this post I went on to ask if I could put a "VERY" small tang in a 30G for about 6-8 months. (My upgrade will be done by then 125G)
In that thread some people became offended and began to bash me and I returned the favor, beacause of that the thread was closed.

With that being said THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!
So please dont post in this thread unless its positive!!!!!!!

Anyway some of you went on to give me some good ideas and advise in fact I started my upgrade because of that thread (I bought the 125G tank this weekend):p I'll keep those interested posted!

As I mentioned in the last thread I wanted to buy a very small tang well Friday I did just that. He is soooooooooo tiny. The LFS
had it in a 6inch x 6inch box it looked so bad the LFS sold him to me for 10$ (So in a way I saved him , for you tang police :eek1: )

I floated him for two hours then I had him in QT most of the day friday.....he did not look so good. I had some garlic in there. the tang did not "show signs of ich" but he was laying on his side on the bottom on the tank for about an hour. Just as I thought I lost 10 bucks I decided to feed him. Brime and seedweed mix cube. And BAM!! he shoots up and attacks the food .........he was just playing :rolleye1: :rolleye1:.
He eat three times friday.

Saturday morning I decided to put him in my 30G Scar Face tank.
I waited untill feeding time then added him in. I just feed this morning and all is fine...........
I'll keep everyone interest updated! I lost my camera to my clowns a couple of weeks ago (I dropped it in the tank):eek2:

I did take some cell phone shots not great but oh well
The tang is less than an inch.....my six line is an inch.

Here is the best full shot I could get...here you get an idea of how much room he'll have for about 6 months. Can you see him??

Wish me luck I'll keep everyone posted

I remember your thread......

good for you on your recent actions.... good luck

Thanks man ......

The only reason why I did it was becasue the tang was so small ... I doubt I'll ever find one that small again. I think he'll be fine for a few months.

LOL, anyhow, just keep your water pristine as those are very sensitive fish. FWIW, they will lay on the bottom like that or wedge themselves in rock when frightened, which will be alot at first. I personally have had a tank up for a year and a half and i'm still not ready to add a tang. I want to have everything perfect and add him last. I will hypo him in my 75g qt for 4 weeks first and make sure he's super healthy. And one last comment, adding garlic will not do anything but stimulate his appetite, it has no affects on ick, unless they hate the smell, lol, good luck! He will more than likely be fine for a few mths.

Afraid I just have to jump in on this, since I am "interested".
You post anything on RC and it's for everyone, if you don't want everyone invoved and cannot ignore the comments you dont' like, keep it to PM's please.

You do realize that ich won't neccessarily show up in the first day you have the fish right? And QT for 1 day is more of just a matter of added stress, not going to benefit the fish at all.

As for him laying on his side like that, regal's do that, nothing to worry bout at all.

fwiw, I've had a small baby regal in my 55g for a couple months now, He's done just fine, but when I first bought him, he was about 2" across, now he's closer to 4" across and the 55g is looking smaller and smaller by the day. You sure don't want to rush the tank he's getting upgraded to but you definatly do not want to hold off on getting that done asap.

My water params are great I'll post them if you like.
My tank has been up a year now........Garlic just made him eat I know but thats what I wanted. I know I should have left him in QT longer ...

Did you see the size of him???????????? I dont thin he'll out grow that tank for a while..IMO

pmartin727, why are you posting this? This is the second thread where you tell the world of all of the mistakes that you are making. Putting a small tang, which is an open water fish, in a 30 gallon tank is not responsible and you know it. Why draw attention to yourself? No real qt for a tang could spell disaster also.
I just dont understand why you would boast to "all the interested people". And dont tell us not to respond unless it is to your liking. This is an open forum regarding reef aquariums. We are free to respond to any threads we want as long as we abide by the user agreement.
I hope you get some advice instead of only contempt but who knows...

Jeff

Point taken I dont think I was making a mistake nor do I think I made a mistake.....Have you seen the pic the guy is soo small and doing much better in my tank than there one at the LFS.

I dont WANT people to agree with me... believe or not there were some people who encouraged me so this post was for them!!.

.But I think you are right I will not post again here... to many people want to agrue and call people names here... If you believe I made a mistake okay that your opinion... but the reason for this post was not for you! you are against it okay but not everyone IS so this is for them NOT YOU...

But I think you are right I will not post again here... to many people want to agrue and call people names here

Man some people are uptight. :lmao:

Good luck with your recent purchase! Just keep your water in check, and he should do juuuuust fine.

 - you have managed to stir the pot again...have you got any butt left at all?

Pmartin, not to sound like a compete jerk or anything, but just because people do not agree with what you are wanting to do, doesn't make em wrong. I'd advise that when you listen to others advice, take a few seconds to stare down at there hobby experience, this can give you a better idea weather or not the advice you are getting is coming from a newbie in the hobby for less than a month, or from somebody who's kept reef tanks for many years. Just please take caution not to encourage poor husbandry practices with newbies in this forum. (make a point to state that the fish will be going into a larger system soon, as you did with this thread)

LOL my butt is to bare bone ...... I wont be posting anything about tangs again. I thought if they the police saw how small the tang was and note he was in a 6 inch x 6inch box a week BEFORE he got to my tank. Lets see 6inch by 6inch or 36 x 18 x 12.

PMartin727: I hope its not true that you won't post here again. I think this is a great site, of course there are people who want to show that they are better, have more money etc... the point of this site is to learn. OK, so you did something most of us wouldn't have done, even when you knew most of us wouldn't have done it, and why. I've never had a regal tang so can't help you, but I'm sure there are many people here that will help you, and are still helping you, so why would you not post here again? Anyway, by X-Mas time I think you will be able to post here saying that your tang is transferred to a new 125g tank (which will make the tang police happy), or it died, screwing with your water parameters, and everything died... (which will still make the tang police happy cause they were right), and you can share a valuable lesson with other newbies.

You are 100% right.......I dont think they are ALL WRONG.....

I WOULD NOT PUT A TANG IN A 30G WITH OUT PLANS TO UPGRADE SOON!!!!!! AND AT THAT I WOULD NOT DO IT UNLESS YOU ARE PREPAIRED TO DEAL WITH WHAT CAN GO WRONG!

I AM so I tired it and so far so good. My Tank has been up for over a year. I wanted to raise my tang from a baby so I started now... COULD I HAVE WAITED? YES!

Different strokes for different folks!
