The smell of SPS ...

Is it just me, or do you guys just love the smell of SPS??? Reminds me of the fresh smell of the ocean (when there is no decaying algae and stuff everywhere). I just really like it. Maybe that's one of the reason I like SPS so much.

Mushrooms and most other corals SMELL (in a bad way) to me at least ...

Yeah, I've noticed that sps have a unique odor which I find appealing. However, I also like the aroma of "Smelly Jelly", a blend of ground up crawfish and garlic which is used as an attractant for fishing lures. Most people think it stinks in a nasty way but to me it is the smell of good times.

:lol: So true! I love the smell! I think many do, I used to go by a LSF everyday on my way home from work, I ofen saw workers/helpers there- "smell" a peice of sps coral. (removed for various reasons)

But dead Clams were held at distance :eek2:

I am embarrassed to say but I love it as well. Reminds me of the beach. Actually, the entire smell of my fishroom reminds me of the beach. Ahhhh, one day.

yall are nuts, Acros are the foulest smelling of all corals (the only ones that actually reek foul odor out of water). everytime I unpack a new frag I think wow this stinks more than the last one I remember. I guess you guys like the smell of skimate and farting as well.

This exact thought came to mind when I ate corn the other day!!!! I could not figure out why I hated the smell of canned corn so much until I remembered the smell of my hands after touching SPS.

I like the smell of acros because its truly a unique odor. Nothing else smells like it and if you just had the smell in front of you, you would instantly know there was an acro in front of you. Not many people outside of this hobby would be able to identify that smell if asked.

I've just started keeping SPS, so I haven't noticed it...but I have noticed the stench of Sarcophytons, even healthy ones. Ugh. After handling them I've scrubbed my hands with hot water and soap, then rubbed vinegar on them, then washed them again, and still smelled it.

Lots of mixed feelings about the smell! I thought there would be ... My family thinks it stinks too and that I'm crazy ... That latter may very well be true.

It stinks like money well spent. But I really dont mind the smell of them. But what was said before xenia really stinks now. If you get that on your hands it stays with you for days no matter how many times you wash your hands.

I LOVE the smell of a fart...especially my own...after eating canned corn. Is that wrong?
