The sound of a breaking aquarium

Dave thanks for the offer.
I am going to have to make a trip up to UCSB to pick up 100+ gallons today sometime (hopefully) after I find a tank.

This tank tank has been through the ringer. Its probably 10+ years old.

Bill,
I've got the 45 hex setup and a 55 tank if you need them. I've also got some big 55G brute trashcans. Give me a ring at work if you need something. I've also got two 35G long tubs as well.

228-5743.

You gotta be kiding me! Who made that tank? And maybe it's just me, but that back panel looks kinda thin....in all seriousness, something like that should not happen.

Anyways, good luck with your tank transition.....one of the problems you will have with a short notice glass tank is that you're gonna end up with whatever holes it happens to have--you really shouldn't drill a glass tank "after the fact". It sounds like you don't want to go acrylic again, but if you do, at least you can drill the tank to your fancy.

No prob. I have 40 gallons worth of containers with me if you need extras. I am minutes away from UCSB (across from the airport) until about 4:00pm. Let me know if you are in the area. Ill PM you my cell #.

Bill,
Ken's selling his 150 if that might help you.

Or you can always do the upgrade you wanted to do. :D

What about Shawn? Does anyone know how to get in contact with him? Maybe get one of their tanks. ;)

Jeff's exoitc fish is supposed to have the best prices. Or call Tat and see if you can get a club discount. I know TO will, not for sure about ventura unless they know you. maybe call the warehouse. ;)

OUCH! Less than .5"? That's ridiculous....anyways, again, good luck with the new tank transfer.

On short notice, I'm pretty sure any retailer that works with clearforlife can get one of their "stock" glass 180s pretty fast. I'm pretty sure that size does not "have" to be custom ordered. However again, who knows what holes, if any will be drilled in the tank.

In the interim, find one of those 4x4x4 stock tanks or a 150g rubbermaid and make a temp holding system and then order a tank to your specifications.

It looked good to me. Nice setup he had. It just needs a good cleaning as there was actually some corals growing on the front of it. I'm not sure if it was glass or acrylic though. It might say in that link. It's about 75 miles from here down the 101/134/210. Talk to him as he's a really nice guy to deal with.

I had the same thing happen to me last year. I lost most of my sps. Make sure you keep lots of circulation in those buckets otherwise rtn.
you can get a couple of large cabinet clamps that will hold your tank together until you can get set up for a transfer to a new tank. that's what I did. My manufacturer honored his warranty but I had to send the 180 gal tank back to him and it took six weeks for them to repair it. I then sold the tank for a huge discount.
I feel for you, good luck.

O man that sux. I can get you a brand new 180 but it isnt RR.

Let me know.

Sorry

Sam

I've got a dremmel and can drill holes as I've done it before. ;)

Bill, you can also borrow the Toyota truck if you need it. I'm going to be busy with teh wife/scholl all weekend. I'll help you where I can. Just let me know.

The shop with the 180g opens at 10am Ill give them a call and see whats up.

They have an ebay link but I cant post... Ill pm to you Brian and Bill.

EDIT:Crud! Its a glass tank.

Sam

Sorry to hear about this. Coral Oasis has a huge RR glass tank in stock right now if you can drive to OC...It looks like a 300. Upgrade? Otherwise, Jeff's usually has large acrylic tanks. But given your experience, I wouldnt go with acrylic again.

Good lord, that looks way too thin for a 180g! But it wasn't the acrylic that failed, it was the acrylic glue -- which if done right, should be impossible, I thought?

You might give So Cal Creations a call on the off chance they have a 180g or similar that the order was cancelled on or something. It's a long shot, but if they do, you could pick up a well made tank right away.
