Great googily moogily Brian, I am speachless. Your lighting is absolutely perfect, bringing out ALL of the colors of your corals to the max. I've gotta get up there again soon to see it in person. Has the System Reefresh helped much?

Mike

thanks Mike!

System reefresh is helping with the alage but thats about it so far I had to restart the system b/c I ran out of one of the products so its a little too early to see what it will do long time.

3 1/2ft by 11ft

I got the Fantech off of ebay been working like a charm.

so far 80gal sump has been fine I would have liked to have had a larger one but all of my equipment fits fine. and I was limited on space.

good luck on the build!

Crazy my tank room will be 3ftx11ft!!!! Well at least I know it can be done. Can you get a shot of everything in there? might be a VERY hard shot to get but something to help me plan from.

Fantech off of ebay huh....what model should I look for?

I think I am going to use a 100gal rubermaid tub for my sump. mayb 2x50gal tubs??

ROCK ON

I use two x 6" for blowers over my tank and 1 x 6" for exhausting tank room air. The replacement air is passive.

any comments on which one to get?
thanks

It depends on how your going to run it. If you are going to tap into an existing exhaust port or make your own that comes out of the roof then one of those will work and you will have to calculate the sq ft of the room and see how many CFM's you need for the room.

Since my house is 2 story I couldn't get access to the roof so I had to cut a hole in the outside of the house and I used the below model

Fantech 4" 124 cfm Wall Mounted Exterior Fan RVF4

Sweet. Thanks. This will be in the basement and I won't be able to do it through the room...just like you Mako. So I'm assuming I might want to get an exterior fan?? The only good thing is I'm planning on using a widow well for the place to exhaust and intake my air. Should keep things sheltered somewhat so don't think I'd need and exterior fan.

Well I'll have a 3x11ft tank room so what CFM's would you guys recommend.

Using passive air would be a smart/energy efficient idea I guess :D

Has anyone considered venting into cooler parts of the house? For instance, venting into a basement, garage, or even back into another part of the house. I'd like to recycle as much as possible. Does anyone see any negatives to this approach?

how tall are your cellings that will help on calculating the CFM's

What is that controller for? Humidity and temp, does it control the fan?

Lunchbucket

It controls both humidity and temp. it has two outlets on it one for humidity and one for temp. you plug the unit in and set the levels for humidity and temp that you want those devices to turn on at. So I have my exahaust fan plugged into the humidity outlet and I have the fans in my room plugged into the temp side.

I'm guessing that that means he doesn't pump air in that it just flows into the room on its own.

Thanks for following along!

So when your humidity goes up in the room it vents that air outside while drawing in passively the air in from inside your home? Is that correct? If so, just out of curiosity what is the duty cycle of the fan. Meaning about how many hours a day do you believe it runs. I'm in a similar situation and was considering drawing in the less humid air from the outside. At least during the winter when it is dry and cool. Summer is a different story. I'm in the North East (Philadelphia), very humid time. Trying to balance energy efficiency. Thanks,

Jon....

thats correct. Runs pretty much the whole time that my MH's are on which is about 5 to 6 hours a day but helps out a ton. I also have a small window A/C unit which helps out when its really hot

So is that the MH cooling fans on for 5 to 6 hrs or is it the exhaust fan or both? As I understand it you have 2 different fans that operate independently based on temp or humidity. Correct? And second question, does the MH fans just blow air on the MHs and water surface for evaporation or does that fan also connect and exhaust to the outside as well. Oh, and are you running a chiller. Sorry if you already answered this questions earlier in the thread. Thanks for your patiences, just want to understand and appreciate the help.

Jon........

My return air is passive from the outside, under my deck. But because I live in a humid area, I cannot use the humidistat that is integrated into my controller. If I try to use it, and theair outside is humid, it just cycles on and off over and over again.
