The story of the MAMA RED PLATE CORAL!

The plate tree I have was intentionally made. The guy I got it from took a screw driver ad scored it causing this to happen. To bad mine isn't a beautiful red one!

Now's the time to ask the wife if her shoe closet can do that...

...if you wanna spend Valentines Day alone, of course.

Anyway, congratulations. Several years ago, I removed a really bright orange plate that bleached out on me. Looks like I took it out too soon. :hmm4:

Now I got the story. That rocks, Rev. Let them grow on their own and pop off and they will continue to reproduce babies in most cases.

That is seriously awesome. One of the coolest things I have read about in a long time. How's the wife feeling now???

I have seen a full colony rock that has the adults already grown out. My lfs has one. Although it is a different color it is one of my favorite pieces in the store. You will not be diappointed when they reach adult age. Simply amazing !

Rev.... I remember when you got that coral. It was very impressive to say the least. Your story reminds me of the Phoenix, where beauty arose from the ashes. Good Luck with the babies and keep us posted!

Hey ok I have an update!!

Well I finally got an update on the baby red plate corals! :)

They are growing nicely and the colors are even nicer than the mom ever was. I fragged a couple off to see how they would do. Pics are not the greatest and yes the mama has some bubble algae but that algae loves that skeleton! HA!

Oh the frag was just a tester to see how it goes. I am afraid they may grow together so I was wondering what you all thought. Should I frag them all apart?

Up to you, in my orange one started out with many but most died off pretty quickly after popping up, as they get larger this may happen to yours, most plate skeleton farms I have seen only have a few large ones growing on them, never the ton o' babies. I kind of like the frag idea, maybe give them an extra chance to all make it? On the downside don't know if the fragged pieces with continue to make babies but you'd have a ton either way. Nano red plates for everyone!

These are all about 8 months old so I have high hopes! They all eat that I can tell.

Do you think it's a possibility that they would continue to reproduce?
