The T5 Q&a Thread - split

Alright,

I will do
2x Coral+
5x Blue+
1x Purple+

Thanks,

Anyone have an opinion if the KZ bulbs are worth the premium over the ATI?

You will find this is very debatable. ZK have a shorter frequency peak making them slightly bluer but it is more personal preference.

Do you think 2 blue plus and 2 coral plus 60 inch@ 80w driven with let ballast and reflectors is enough. Over a 210. I have led I can run also but to be honest prefer to only run the t5s lol

Hey T5'ers... I'm happy with the control and idea of LEDs and Im much happier with my Radion compared to the AI SOL and such, but colors are just not what i expect... acros are always brown or dull... and its not the water...

Do I need to sell my Radion and buy an ATI T5 ?

Currently running 4 stock T5 bulbs on odyssea 48 inch. Any advice on best replacement combo would help. Looking into Ati, but really not sure of type or order to place bulbs.

You could, but you dont have to, you could possibly supplement your leds

I thought of maybe mounting these on each side but would prefer the clean look of one solo module over my tank...

Im pretty much sold on trying an ATI Sunpower 4x24, but how is this:
Blue+
Blue+
Fiji Purple or Coral+
Blue+

I enjoy a 20k look.

It's time for me to change the actinic bulb in my setup which is a 6-bulb t5 over a 90 gallon. I was wondering should I change it to a B+ or a P+? My current bulb setup is:

B+
Actinic
B+
B+
Aquablue
B+

Also, should I keep the new bulb in the same spot as the actinic or move it to a different position.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

FWIW, I am setting up my 125g (6ft) with a 6x80 LET retro kit I got from Reefgeek. I wanted 8x80 but could not fit in my canopy, so settled with the 6 bulb fixture. I am out of town but when I get it set up next weekend will post pics on this thread My bulbs will be all KZ....4- Superblue, 1 New Gen and 1 Coral Light.

I have had great success with KZ over my 29 gallon, I switched from Geismann which I have used for many years. If you can get KZ bulbs, I feel they are worth the extra dough based on my personal experiences.

As for the watts per inch, I don't buy into validity of that for my own decisions. I prefer to decide on how many lights by watts per gallon and a 210gallon with only 320 watts is barely over 1.5 watts per gallon.

I have always gone with a minimum of 4 watts/ gallon T5 over SPS dominated mixed reefs.

HTH, I'm looking forward to getting the LET/KZ retro over this 125g.:bum:

I have a 58 gallon tank (36 inches wide) with a 30 inch Coralife T5HO fixture on it with 4 bulbs. I am wanting my corals to glow(I'm guessing this is what the blue lights do but I am not sure, the frogspawn I bought was blue and yellow under his LED light and is greenish brown and red under mine). Which bulbs do I need to get this look? I currently have two blue bulbs and two white bulbs, however I dont know which kind specifically or what brand they are.

First off you will never match the glow that blue LED's create because of the absenseof other collors from the LED light.

But to bring out the glow with T-5's the ATI Blue Plus bulbs or the Atinic Bulbs are the key. However you do want some mix of other colors for growth as well as visability. So I would use 3 ATI Blue Plus and 1 ATI Coral Plus to give you the most florescense. You could add a strip of Royal Blue LED's for added florescent pop and even just run that alone for pre dawn to post dusk.

With no strong red in the spectrum now I would select the purple plus to balance out the visual spectrum.

Your on the light side for 210 with just the T-5's. I would recommend etither 6 or 8 bulb if you go all T-5's.

I have found tht with right mix LED's work fantastic with T-5's. They allow the benifits of both worlds and make up for each others short falls. But the secret is getting the correct balance in the spectrum.

TropTrea....

Which Royal Blue Leds strip you will recommend to attach to my 6x80 Sunpower for Dawn/Dusk???

Thanks in advance...
