The T5 Q&a Thread - split

How well would an 8 bulb ATI fixture work over a 30"deep tank? It has about a 4" sand bed so 25-26 inches from the top of the water to the sand bed. I like a mixed reef, so keeping SPS up high doesn't bother me. I just want to know ahead of time if I'll be limited as far as an anemone or clams go.

Powermodule should grow about anything you want.

Okay, I think I've got this right,

2 x 250w 10k mh? I don't know what temp to use.

4 x 54w ATI Blue plus?
I was thinking about putting a purple in there. I have no idea tho.

The mh's I can be turned on seperately but the t5s are all on one switch.

Can anyone help me I have a Nova T5ho 54 watt 8 bulb fixture. Its on a 120g Mixed reef. I need to replace all 8 bulbs need help with brand and type. bulbs 1 3 5 and 7 are on one switch and 2 4 6 and 8 on another. I run actinics 1 hour before and 1 hour after for a total of 10 hours. The daylights are on for 8 hours. Thanks for advice.

10K halides with 4 Blue Plus is what I'd do.

Hello Grim, Long time no ask question :)
Grim I acquired a 10 bulb powermodule for my new 150 Gallon Reef. I have a TON of bulbs available. I noticed that you have given 10bulb suggestions before to other powermodule users but all of them had tanks that sit against a wall. My tank is a Peninsula and after attempting some combinations I don't think I was doing it right.

I have the Following Bulbs and Quantities at my Disposal

[8] ATI Blue +
[2] ATI Aquablue Special
[2] ATI Purple Plus
[2] Korallen-Zucht New Generation Fiji Purple
[2] Korallen-Zucht New Generation Coral Light
[2] SolarMax 11,000K
[2] SolarMax Actinic 03
[1] Geissman Actinic +
[4] Wavepoint ReefWave

I Tried a experiment with LED's that browned out some of my SPS and they are starting to get back their color.

Here is my tank. This combination is

To me the tank seems DIM but I'm not sure.. I think maybe its my eyes.

Try swapping out the Aquablues for Fiji Purple and see what you think.

AND BEWARE THE TANG POLICE!!!

Ok I'll swap them out.

As for the tang police LAWL... I'm a fugitive!

I've raised all those tangs from 1" When they hit around 5/6" I trade them out to my Friend at the LFS and he replaces with with a NEW Trio.

Those tangs will go into a 1600 Gallon SPS Reef in about 7 or 8 months :)

Will a powermodule/sun power 4x24 be enough to grow sps and clams close to the sandbed (2-4 inches off the sand)? Or will I need to go with the 6x24?

^ sorry, it was late when I wrote that. I mean to put it on top of an elos midi (22.5"x19.7"x19.1")

Also, I'd like to keep the light fixture close to the tank to prevent light spill.

What is the typical 6 bulb combination that you would suggest? Is this it?...

ATI Blue plus
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Purple plus
GE 6500K or Coral Plus?
ATI Blue plus
ATI Blue plus

Or is there another combination that you'd recommend over this? I'm looking for a 18-20k look
Thanks!

What you listed with the coral plus

So for a 2 bulb T5 fixture I am going to use on a FOWLR I am thinking one ATI blue plus and one ATI Purple plus or KZ new generation or ATI actinic or aqua blue special?

We bought a 72" 6 bulb fixture and the bulbs are in this order.

blue +
blue +
purple +
blue+
10k white +
blue +

do you think this will work in this order or should we change the order or the 10k to something else? Will be doing mostly softs and lps corals.
