I am looking for a suggestion on the order of the following bulbs for a mixed reef with a clam of two. I have 3 ATI Blue Plus, 1 Fiji Purple, 1 GE6500K and 1 ATI Aquablue.

Thanks for your assistance.

Grim,

So after deciding on a ati 6 bulb sunpower light for my 36"x18"x24" tank I was hit with the reality that I am not going to be able to spend that much on a light. So my question is do you think I can get away with a 4 bulb sunpower and still be able to get good growth out of my sps? Or would I be better off overdriving 4 bulb retro with aquailluminations reflectors in my canopy? Main goal in mind is to get good growth out of my sps while not blasting my lpswith to much light. If you think 4 bulb would work what combo would you recommend?

Thanks!

I'd be more inclined to replace the Aquablue with another blue plus.

I have a 130G cube tank 36x36x24 and two 6x39w ATI Sunpower Fixtures (12 Lamps) I am wondering what the best combination for my setup is. It is a mixed SPS/LPS Reef I like a crisp looking reef that has good SPS growth and good colors that "POP".

My current bulb combination is:

Front
UVL 75.25
UVL Super Actinic
ATI Blue Plus
Giesemann Midday
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Aqua sun
ATI Blue Plus
UVL 75.25
Back

I currently own:
2 x UVL 75.25 (one 12 months old & one 6 months old)
6 x ATI Blue Plus (3 are 6 months old)
3 x ATI AquaBlue (one 6 months old)
1 x UVL AquaSun (one 6 months old)
1 x UVL Super Actinic
1 x Giesemann Midday
1 x ATI Pro Color

(All other bulbs are new)

Unfortunately in my area I am only able to get Giesemann, ATI and UVL lamps.

Grim,

It looks like the 300 is going to be put on hold for a bit so I'm sticking with the 24" deep 180. That being the case I want to give the T5's a shot.

It looks like I'm going to be going with 3 IC660's and probably 8 bulbs unless you tell me I really need the 9'th which I doubt.

Also knowing I'm gong with 60" bulbs can you give me a recommendation on which bulbs to use and the order front to back to get a bright (white'ish / 10K) look? Like I said before I currently have 3x400 10K Reeflux with the 2 60" Giesemann Atinic+ for blue.

Anyone,

Any recommendation on where to get the best price for the bulbs including shipping?

Thanks

Try moving the Aquasun a little front of center, the Midday a little rear of center and the 75/25's one or two positions in so they aren't the first and last lamps in the set and see what you think. Maybe pull one aquablue for another Blue Plus as well, just play around and see what you get.

That won't be very blue, the Aquablue lamps are a crisp white with a slight blue tint so they really brighten things up.

Would an ATI 8x24 watt powermodule product better PAR than a Aquailluminations 8 x 24watt T5 VHO (with overdrive to 40 watts per bulb)??
Is it worth overdriving the lamps?

Pro Color

I was informed today that the Procolors by ATI are discontinued. Honestly I haven't bought bulbs in a year so this may be old news to many. My question is What is an equivelant to replace these?

Sunpower or retros overdriven?

And if the fixture will does it matter if blue + and Fiji are the dusk to dawn?

Thanks again!!

This is my exact current configuration, and I really like the Blue + / Fiji as my dusk/dawn. Swapped out a Superactinic for the fiji: dusk/dawn is now definitely brighter, (pro or con depending on your point of view), but everyone comments favorably on the new look.

Overall a little blue for me: I will swap out the aquablue for a GE next week (stagin my bulb changeouts) and see how that looks.

Do you have any experience with the VHO retrofits from Hello Lights? Looks like they are priced well. What would be the practical difference between the HO, and VHO kits. I realize one is overdriven, but how much will this shorten your bulb life? 3 months? Also will it run hotter?

I guess what I am getting at is, will it negate most of the reasons I want to go with T5's?

Depends how tall the tank is but if it isn't at least 20 inches overdriving isn't really needed. With proper cooling the retro would have more PAR.
