Looking for an opinion. If you had to choose from between the Wavepoint T5 fixture or the Current Sundial which would you pick?

Grimm I have a Nova Extreme 72" on a 210 Gallon.. My tank is 84"x24"x24".. My light fixture sets in middle of tank and is off the water about 5-6" .. Would u recommend getting an LED fixture for this size tank? if so which one should i be looking at cus there are many LED fixtures out there...

I was wondering, if I were to mount some vhos on the perpendicular side of t5s? (Like underneath) How much of an output from the t5's would I lose?

Like this side view diagram
(X are the T5s and O's are the vhos)
________

|O O|

Thanks in advance.

I'm starting up a 60 gallon long tank (48 x 15 x 16) and planning on a mixed reef. I don't have the budget for an HQI T5 combo fixture, but I do have the budget for a T5HO 4 or 6 bulb setup. What would you recommend?

I'm about to replace the lights in my 55 gal, SPS tank. I've been planning on this line-up:

Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White (or maybe 75/25)?
ATI Aqua Blue
ATI Blue Plus
Back

Will that give me good color with enough par for SPS about half way down?

Hey guys quick question. I have a 150 gallon reef tank (6 feet long, 2 feet high, 1.5 feet wide) with some soft and hard corals and a clam with 3 250watt metal halides (I think theyre 15k) that come on for 6 hours a day and 4 54 watt blue looking t5 lights that come on for 13 hours per day. Most of the corals are midlevel to higher level in the tank as theyre almost all on live rock. Everything has been doing real well for over a year, however I've had all the lights in there for a year and I think I should slowly start changing them. I was thinking about changing the middle metal halide and then a month later changing the 2 side ones. Also there are 2 blue t5s on each side 4 total. I would like to change out one on each side, then wait a month then do another one on each side. However wouldnt it be better to have two different color bulbs on each side? Like on each side have one that is blueish and one more purplish for a better spectrum? The t5s are about 46 inches long. Recommendations?

Of the stuff you listed I would do a 6 lamp Tek. 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 UVL Actinic White and a ATI Aquablue.

Hi Grim,

What will be the placement be for the above setup.

Currently I am using 6x24W for my SPS tank.
Front to Back
- ATI Actinic
- ATI Aquablue
- ATI Blue Plus
- ATI Aquablue
- ATI Aqaublue

My t5 bulbs says "Ch Lighting F54T5/Blue-Lux Coral" - all 4 are the same. They are actually 45 and 3/4 inches tip to tip of the prongs. Suggestions for a better mix in addition to my metal halides?

The length you posted is the standard 48" bulbs. With endcaps it usually comes really close to 48" and that is why they list them that way.

As for diffrent bulbs I would definitely try out 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 KZ Fiji Purple and maybe a UVL Super Actinic.

Rtparty, thanks for your suggestion! I ordered those exact bulbs from aquacave they had all the bulbs and got a 5% off coupon by searching on google. All those bulbs look really sweet and will probably be a big upgrade from my old ones in there now. Thanks!!!!!!

Should I change all the t5 bulbs at once or will that be too much "shock" to the corals?

I would just change one bulb every few days. Put a Blue Plus in the front and back then the Super Actinic and Fiji Purple wherever looks best to you.

Hey Grim, need help on a bulb set-up. Getting a six bulb T-5 fixture. One row is gonna be LEDs (white) most likely (better par right? and for shimmer). I prefer my tank to be more on the blue side than the white side, but not too blue. NOT 20K. Course I know this isn't metal halide, but I knew you would know what I was talking about. One light set-up that will make my corals look great. Hope you can help. Thank you !
