Go with a combo of 4-ATI Blueplus, 1- KZ Fiji Purple, and 1- ATI Aquablue Special.

This combo will yield good growth and awesome colors.

:D OK, Just to make sure you guys understand. Light Fixture will be 16-18" AWAY from Tank.
Water is only 10.5 deep . tank is 48 longx18 wide x12 tall

Time to change out my bulbs on my 6 bulb 54 watt 48" Tek light. Looking for suggestions for a good combination of bulbs to really make may corals pop but still get good growth. Mostly lps. Any suggestions I am looking at UVL and Geiseman bulbs.

Grim, I'm confused on the GE 6500. I hear people say its too yellow and they don't like them but often times I see you recommend them.

What set ups are good with that bulb?

I have an Aquactinics TX5 with two ATI blue plus, UVL actinic white, ATI aquablue, and the GE 6500. I have softies and lps but also some algae issues. Should I keep this lighting combo, or change out the 6500? I realize its probably my phosphate levels and not my lighting contributing to the algae problem. Would the fiji purple be a good addition or redundant with what I have if I replace the 6500?

If you have more lamps, like 6 running the GE with 4 blue plus and a pinkish UVL lamp looks good because the GE has a lot of green and yellow spectrum all those blue lamps don't. With 5 lamps flip a coin, running 3 Blue Plus, a GE and UVL Actinic White is going to look nice, just not as blue as many people want. I figured this out after running a 50/50 Blue Plus/Aquablue mix on my 125. My fiji yellow leather and pink birds nest looked pretty crappy. Once I added the GE lamp the Yellow and pink colors looked bright and clean.

Hi, I was wondering what you thought might be a good combo to put in my 60" Current USA Outer Orbit set up. Currently I run the Phoneix 150's MH and use it as a "daylight" cycle and am generally happy with it. I'm looking to replace the stock actinic T5's that came with the set up (4 54W bulbs). I use these bulbs as a dusk/dawn lighting cycle (I don't run them both at the same time because the amount of power used is nearing the point that it will trip my circuit breaker). I hear good things about the Fiji Purple, should I just put 4 of those in? Or should I mix it with something else? I wouldn't be against getting a bit of PAR out of them...mostly though I want to make sure it looks like a nice dawn/dusk when compared to the Phoneix 150 MH.

Thanks

Hey grim I have an atinic, but it says super Atinic white. Is that the same as regular atinic?e

Also, i was lookig at someones ATI blue plus buls, and they are really blue compared to my geissman aquablue plus. Could that be why my tank looks so white?

Aquablue Plus is more of a white lamp. Actinic Plus is their blue lamp. Actinic White is a pinkish daylight/actnic combo much like an Aquablue, just with the pink tint rather than blue.

Do 3 ATI Blue Plus and the Fiji Purple. A L O T of PAR there so if you do plan on running them with the halides be careful till things have a chance to acclimate.

so if the powermodule the best unit available is the sunpower the second best do you think the cost difference is worth it i could get 10 tubes of sunpowers for cheaper than an 8 tube powermodule what would you do grim thanks for all the help so far

Hey guys, I have been reading a lot of stuff on different fixtures, and frankly I'm getting a little overwhelmed by the different options. I just have one simple (i think) question though:

For a 48" long, 18" deep, 20" tall tank, that I hope to keep a mix of soft, LPS and SPS corals in, would a 48" Nova Extreme Pro be adequate?

By adequate, I mean keep all of these corals alive, with healthy colors, and hopefully substantial growth.

On deeper tank front to back I would go with more lamps. On a tank less than 28" or so front to back I would use 8 lamps. It really is a personal choice thing. If you have more lamps you can use some actinics which are nice for dusk/dawn but at the same time you are pay for, and to run more lamps.

Yes, just replace the stock lamps within the first few months.
