8 should be plenty unless you are going to be doing clams on the sand, then I would probably think about 10.

75g. sps dominated tank. Using a Aquactinics TX5. Time to replace the bulbs. What are your bulb selection recommendations?

if i want to get a T5 fixture for my 29 G, i believe it is 18 inch tall and 30 inch lenght. what fixture should i get if i want to keep sps and clam. thanks.
 
I guess that this is the best place to ask this. So here it is.
Grimm, I am looking for a 4 t-5 bulb combo that has one redish bulb one blueish one purpleish and one crisp white. I want the end result of the combination to produce a white light that accents the reds and blues in the tank. I am looking at the ATI bulbs but there are just so many different bulbs out there and I have ALWAYS used halides. I realize that this question comes up frequently in this forum but I was not able to get the strait answers that I was looking for with a google search or RC search.
 
hi grim, i have a standard 29 G tank. if i want to upgrade to T5, what fixture should i get over it to keep sps and clam (prefer on the sandbed)? thanks.

4 bulb ATI sunpower would be my first choice, in the 24" fixture.

My second choice would be the TEK 24" - 4 bulb fixture.

Order and extra Blue Plus to play with.

Well the best 4 bulb combo I have seen is 2 ATI Blue Plus, a KZ Fiji Purple and an ATI Aquablue. The Fiji Purple will pick up your reds very nicely and the Aquablue is your crisp white bulb. If you really want to add a purple bulb then throw in an actinic bulb but you will lose PAR and it will be hard to notice the actinic on with the other three overpowering it.

For 4 lamps I would do 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 UVL Actinic White and a ATI Aquablue. The Actinic White will give you the pink which combined with blue is purple, the Aquablue is more white with a slight blue tint.

I have a 75gallon bowfront with a mixture of SPS, LPS, Softies and fish. I bought a used Tek T5 8bulb fixture with who knows what kind of lighting. I'm ready to switch them all out and would like to know what the best combination and brand bulbs you would recommend. I'm looking for growth as well.

please let me know if you need anymore information.
 
Just a quick thanks to Grim for the bulb recs!

I finally saved up enough to actually order them, and just switched out my old set (8 lamp TEK).
My tank looks amazing! There are all sorts of colors coming out on my corals that I've never seen before!
So, if your corals look dull, a new bulb or three apparently really make a difference! :)

does anyone have par readings with a 24in 4 bulb setup. I have the sundial t5 and was wondering what it puts out. I run 3 blue plus and a blue special. so any bulb combo without true actinics should be close. Anyone have par readings inside the tank. I can't seem to get my hands on a meter locally.
