New light advice.

New light advice.

I have a 75g mixed reef w/2 T-5HO's currently. Tank dim. are 48"x18"x20". Wanting to upgrade to a 4 or 6 bulb T-5HO. I have not decided on a brand of fixture yet but I was planning on using Giesemann bulbs. Any advice on what bulbs to use, Actinic+, AquaBlue+ ect. & in what order from front to back? I would like to have some more bright colored SPS's and make sure they keep the bright colors! I'm looking for a slight blue tint to the overall look and having the corals fluoresce as much as possible! Any advice would be much appreciated!

Use 4 Giesemann Actinic Plus, 1 Aquablue and 1 UVL Actinic White. It won't be as blue as you'd think going by the lamp names. The positions depend on which fixture you get but you want the Actinic White front of center and the Aquablue rear of center/

Going with the Tek, In what order should the bulbs be?

Front
Blue Plus
Actinic White
Blue Plus
Aquablue
Blue Plus
Blue Plus

You can tweak the AW and AB lamps back one position if you like, just keep them separated by a blue plus.

EDIT: Actinic Plus instead of Blue Plus

Can you recommend a bulb combination using mostly giesmann and uvl bulbs? Fixture is a 4ft 8 bulb tek light over a standard 75 gallon tank filled with mostly sps and prefer a blue look with alot of pop!

Thank you

Also have acces to the new wave point bulbs that our local lfs just started carrying what do you think about these?

Gmann Actinic Plus
UVL 75/25
Gmann Actinic Plus
Gmann Actinic Plus
UVL Actinic White
Gmann Actinic Plus
Gmann Aquablue
Gmann Actinic Plus

Maybe grab an extra Gmann Aquablue and Actinic Plus to play with. I would think that combo would POP pretty well and pick up all spectrums nicely.

I guess since there is 8 bulbs on this size tank it is ok to do that many actinic plus? I have heard that they do not put out much par and this is a 80%sps tank but love the idea of it just wanted to confirm it will be enough par.

Hi Grim, need suggestion for 12x80W (Sfiligio) bulb combination for 30 in. height tank with sps dominant. Thanks

much thanks to you grim

much thanks to you grim

i read your postings, and selected my bulbs from your recommendations for my new t-5 lighting system and bought my new bulbs from reefgeek.front: blue plus-fiji purple-aqua blue-blue plus. my tank is amazing and popping with colors i haven't seen in a while. my buddy boxer turned me on to you after i commented on his t-5 setup that you picked out for him. i told the people at reefgeek they should be giving you freebies after all the business you send their way. i also want to ask a question about my 92 gallon i have 2- 250 watt phoenix metal halides and it is blue but doesn't pop at all like my 55 gallon. i can add 2- 24 inch t-5's up the middle. do you think that would make much difference in helping my corals to pop? thanks for any help.
