Flip a coin. Unless you are filling the sandbed with clams right out to the front 12 is probably still fine.

Thanks Grim - since this is an in wall build and the fixtures won't be seen, I think I'm going with 2 6x80w fixtures ... Reefgeek has "factory seconds" of that fixture right now at $750/unit including bulbs. Seems like a great deal.

I know I want to use 8 ATI Blue Plus and 2 ATI Purple Plus. what I'm not sure about is whether to use 2 GE 6500K Daylights or 2 Aquablues.

Any thoughts?

Don't know anything about the Aquamedics, go with the known lamp when in doubt.

Should be getting close. Look at Snaza's PAR reading picture upthread.

I found on the sunpower maximum par was with the fans at 7v. The main guy posting on the thread "It's about time to change lamps" found his long term output was better at 9v. Kangym is his screen name. He's done some fine documentation of his PAR.

yeah been following Kangyn's thread from the start. I didn't notice any real PAR difference from 6v-9v. i run at 6 mainly becuase of the fan noise:lol2:

Combination of Cool White, Neutral White and Warm White LED's but A GE 6500K Daylight works.

Kang had done long term PAR readings earlier in that thread and his PAR maintenance was way better with the fans set to 9v.

Grim, I'm fairly new to RC and have been painfully searching the forums for a lighting recommendation and it seems to be ur the man when it comes to T5s. So here it goes...
Tank Dim. 48x18x30"High. Thinking about go with Sunpower TEK 6x54. I wanna stock zoas, leathers, mushroom and maybe softies. Can u plz give me an ATI bulb config. Should I go with the 8x54 just to be safe or will the 6x54 be sufficient for what I wanna keep. THANKS!!

Sunpower 6x54 would be fine as long as you don't get into clams, then you'd want the powermodule.

What do u think about this combo for a ati 8x39 pm? Tank is 36x24x18. Center over flow. Most corals will be under the 3-7 bulbs. Is this combo and bulb arrangement good for pop and growth? If not, what would u suggest? Thanks!

Am I ok with thus combo as far as growth and color restoration or will another bulb combo make it look better and corals grow faster. Or am I just blasting them with too much light.

Sure you answered this somewhere in these 383 pages... But I need your recommendation, Building a 40 gallon 36x18x16 mixed frag tank. Your suggestion on Lighting fixture and bulbs. 4 or 6 bulbs? Want max growth.

Same question for a 48"x24x11 frag tank.

Growth good. I would add another Blue Plus in place of one of the Aquablues if it were mine, it will pull out a little beter color.

4 Blue Plus, 1 Aquablue and a Purple Plus all ati lamps in a 6x39 ATI Sunpower for the little one and 5 Blue Plus, 2 GE 6500K Daylights and a ATI Purple Plus in a 8 lamp Tek for the frag tank.
