I have 8 bulbs over a 42 inch tall tank. Grim??? Any thoughts on sustainable par below 30 inches for softies? Should I overdrive ?? No headspace for halides over tank so I'm stuck. Any thoughts

Maybe the lower light softies down low. I would keep stuff like the fiji leathers at least in the upper half of that monster. Things like mushrooms and and such will grow in about any light.

I made the switch from 14k MH to a new 8x80w powermodule this week but i'm not sure If I have the rite bulb placement. It's a bit too pink/blue.

The dusk dawn is slot 3&6 (blue+) and I would like to make that less blue if possible. Any ideas?

1 Aquablue

Swap out the #5 Aquablue for a GE 6500K Daylight and I think you will be about where you want to be. As far as DUsk/Dawn you could swap 3 and 4 for you have a fiji purple and Blue Plus for dusk/dawn.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. As far as growth goes when I get some more SPS in the tank how will this light combo work? Is there another set of bulbs that I should be using to get optimum growth?

Grim,
I have a 210g 72" * 24" * 29". Do you think I can a t 5 setup to replace the 250 MH I currently use? If so, what should I use for them because the 72" fixtures I see dont seem as good as the retros? I have SPS & clams close to the sand bed. Thanks!

In need of a little help. I am new to T5's and need a retro kit set up for a 20 high tank (24x12x16). It will hold lps, polyps, maybe sps, and also a mantis. Like a frag tank. Lights will sit 4-6" from water. More concerned with color than growth. Like the look of radium bulbs. Sunlight supply is local so I know the LFS can order from there, but i am not opposed to ordering online either.

Thanks ahead of time!!!

I would do a 8x80 watt ATI Powermodule sitting close to the top of the tank.

I would do 3 ATI Blue Plus and a GE 6500K Daylight. You could use 3 Giesemann Actinic Plus and a Midday if that is locally available.

Looking for a good 7 bulb combo. Running 48" bulbs on a 60x24x24 150 gallon tank with SPS/LPS. Also, what would you recommend for a photo-period, I have been running 11 hours full strength with 1 hour dusk/dawn. Thanks.

4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 GE 6500K Daylight 1 UVL 75/25 and 1 UVL Actinic White is one of my favorite combos.

Hi,

I have 36" Current Sundial, tank is zoas and LSP and a few fish.

Stock bulbs are a year old, so I'm putting some better hitters.

What would you recommend? This is what I'm thinking.

F-> B

Aquablue+
GE 6500K
Actinic+
6000K Midday

Other ideas?

Thanks!

Josh

PS: I use the timers, so the blues come on first and last for for dawn and evening, if that makes a difference, plus I want the blues to look good in the dark, since the tank is in the living room and when its movie time its pretty cool to have the glowing corals!

I was hoping to get some advice on a new setup. Mostly concerned with fixture right now, but I guess it would hurt to ask about bulb combination as well...

I'm planning a 48"x24"x18"Tall rimless. I will have a mixed reef (a few SPS, Acans, Rics). After doing a lot of reading, I am considering a 36" fixture with planned placement of corals into the proper area of lighting. I plan on having the rock away from the sides by at least 2-3", so that will take care of part of the low light edges. I was considering:
1) 36" 6x39W ATI Sunpower (I would have to go to a PowerModule for more bulbs and would rather not)
2) 36" 6x39W LET Modular (more bulbs available, but I'm not even sure this fixture is available yet)
3) any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Grim,

I have a standard 120(4x2x2) with sps up on the rocks and zoas/lps on the sand. I have a 6 bulb ice cap retrofit kit, front two bulbs on an advance ballast and the back 4 overdriven on a 660. Back 4 are over the rockwork where all my sps are. I'm not real happy with the color I have now and I was hoping you could suggest a bulb combo front to back for me. I'm looking for a 18-20k color scheme. The bulbs I currently have available are 5 blue plus, 1 GE 6500k, 1 actinic white, and 1 fiji. Its not a problem to order a few others if you feel I can't get where I want to go with these. Thanks in advance!

do 2 Actinic Plus for your dusk/dawn and a GE 6500K and ATI Aquablue for the Daylight. It will look around 14K in color.

So after some time away from having a tank I am looking to set my 40g breeder back up. Thinking about skipping the MH's and going with a T5 setup. Does anyone have some suggestions for a decently priced complete setup, or should I go with a retrofit? I am going for a fairly mixed reef, Zoas, LPS, few SPS. Would a 6 bulb setup work for me, or can I get away with 4?
