Hey grim i have a 48inch long 55 gal and i was wondering what a good setup would be for a softy lps tank? thank you so much for your time and you are sabiving me a big head/heart ach
 
i am trying to get the most par and don't want a really blue tank would this make it look too much blue? what order should the bulbs be in?

did I miss a lamp in there somewhere? was gonna use 6 lamps, you only listed 5. should lamp 6 be a fiji?
 
Grim, any suggestions for a 48x30x20 tank? It will be a SPS/LPS/Zoa tank, was looking at the new IceCap Reef Illumination fixture, the 48" 6 bulb T5 with 2 bulb LED setup.

Add a second Aquablue if you want a more white look.

Aquablue

I suppose it would work OK but I am not a fan of fixtures with no active cooling. Personally I'd get an 8 lamp Tek and add leds to it myself instead. The 8 lamps are going to cover the 30" a whole lot better and you could just add a couple of Ice Cap's LED tubes to the fixture on the front and back if you really want LED's.

Good idea, thanks. Here is what I have priced out for the fixtures/bulbs/hanging kit, you would advise going with the Tek Elite?

48" Tek 8 bulb $573
48" Tek Elite 8 bulb $766
48" ATI Sunpower 6 bulb $639

The elite at least has fans. Gotta help some, I'd go for that.

I have a tek t5 8 bulb fixture and the bulbs I have now are, 3 ATI Aqua blue, 4 ATI blue+ and 1 KZ figi purple

my tank is a mixed reef with mostly SPS in the middle

can you please tell me in which order I should put the bulbs from front to back to have a nice colour and maximum growth for my sps, I chose 3 aqua blue, b/c before I had 6 blue + and I didnt get good growth.

Grim reefer might have the proven data but icecap fixture in my opinion is very dissapointing they have the same reflector design as a nova extreme pro where it is a sheet of metal that is bent into "V" for the t5's not individual reflectors like tek or ati fixtures

Might try different vendor to see if tek light is available is in stock
 
Thanks..I actually decided to stay with TEK Elite and will just wait it out. I have the Nova Extreme Pro over the tank now and everything is doing fine so waiting is no big deal. I have a Bowfront tank so the icecap wouldn't..too wide. I read that today about the reflector though. Looks like the moonlights and ballast would be the only improvement over the tek elite. I have the reefkeeper elite with teh lunar module so moonlights are not a dealbreaker for me
 
I am picking up a new TEK Elite 54 watt 6 bulb fixture on the weekend and I was wondering what would be a good bulb choice to achieve max. SPS growth?
I would also like a blue hue effect to the water.

What order should I put them in?

Any help appreciated.

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the 36" TEK Elite fixutre? I've read 35X12X2.5 on a few sites and 35X15X2.5 on others and even 35X16.5X2.5. I ordered it under the assumption it was only 12 inches wide
 
Closing on the 120 build (4ft x 2ft x 2ft). I have a Nova Extreme 6 light. should I add a 2, 4 or 6 light fixture to supplement?

Mixed reef with SPS, LPS and softies

which 2, 4, 6 light fixtures do you recommend that are good for the money?
