Setting up a 120G mixed tank and planning on getting the ATI Powermodule 8x54 fixture.

Thinking of this lighting combo for dusk to dawn:

FRONT
ATI Blue Plus
UV Super Actinic
UV Actinic White
KZ Fiji Purple
Geissman Midday
UV Actinic White
UV Super Actinic
ATI Blue Plus

Comments?

WAY WAY too much red between the Fiji and 2 Actinic Whites. You will need more blue in your setup.

Try 3 ATI Blue Plus, 2 UVL Super Actinic, 2 KZ Fiji Purple and an ATI Aquablue

I would even be inclined to run 4 Blue Plus and skip the Aquablue.

I thought 3 and 6 are sunrise/sunset?

Grim, I don't know if this has been asked or not, but as long as this thread is, I assume it has and I can't find it...lol.

Angie's 24 gallon Aquapod has a 150 MH Sunpod fixture above it, which I HATE!! I don't know if it's my bulb selection or what, but we just can't seem to get the coral coloration and growth that we're getting in our other tanks, under T5s. We'd love to put T5s over it, but I can't seem to find much available in 20". I see Nova has a 20" T5 fixture. That's all I'm finding. If I were to go this route, how limited would I be on bulb options? As another option, what would your thoughts be on getting a 24" T5 fixture, considering that we'd probably upgrade to a 24" or 26" cube(ish) tank, someday, though it may be awhile.

Hey Sid. I know you did not ask me but I felt I would give you my 2 cents worth. I have the nove extreme pro and currently you only have the stock bulbs available, however it looks as if uvl will be coming out with a few different options shortly. I have been in frequent contact with the guys over at nanotuners and they say it looks as if they should be available by early June although to no fault of theirs they have said that they were expecting them to have come out since March but have yet to receive them.

As far as going with a larger fixture you would certainly have more bulb options it would just be a matter of taste/ eye appeal as you would have the fixture pertruding outward on the sides (not for me) but again just my .02

I need some experienced insight.
I have a retro t-5 set up with 6 x 80w (60" t-5's)
It is about time to replace the bulbs.

I got my lights from reefgeek.com and have called and asked what they recommended in the past (it's worked out fine). I would like some input from here.

Any suggestions on type of bulbs ( and combinations, i.e. 1 of this, 2 of that...etc.)?

someone had recommended the following:

"3x 10K, 1x 460, 1x 490, and... 1x UV? or an aquablue+ depending on how blue/white you like it "

That's a good combo. Not too blue. Mine is very similar: I use a UVL Aquasun instead of the ATI Aquablue. I tried a GE 6k, the Aquablue and the Aquasun in that slot (other three held constant) and I liked the Aquasun the most. So:

your will get better growth, color, and par from something like this. It wll still be blue but not fake looking 20,000k blue and you would cover the spectrum much nicer and increase the Par by removing the second super actinic.

Looks good. I would move the KZ Fiji Purple up one slot.

I just swapped one of my Current 10k's for a Wavepoint Red Wave. My bulb combination is now

The tank has taken on a nice purple hue when all 4 bulbs are on, and it really brings out the pink in my xenia and the oranges in the red birdsnest.

So far so good! Any PAR readings on the Wavepoint lights?

I'm thinking of swapping the other 10k for an ATI Aquablue Special, and one of the 460nm's for something like a super actinic. What combo would you suggest, taking into account my current set up and bulb order? I want to keep the Wavepoint bulb and one of the Current 460nm's. I want my tank to look white, but I don't want the ultra blue 22k look that's so popular now. I want purple!

I had no feedback on this, so I went with the following combo.

I run an ATI Sunpower 6 bulb. Here is teh setup:

I don't see reds pop out much unless only the dusk/dawn are on. Would the reds pop more during the day if I switched out the Aquablue for a figi purple? My tank is predominately SPS.

Here is new lamp. Do you think they are good enough ?
slot 1,3,5,7 are together, and slot 2,4,6,8 are together. and I want to have Blue+ and Fiji for dusk/dawn.
