Grim looking for suggestions for a 200 gallon 24 inch deep sps tank I am getting the ATI powermodule 8X80 and was thinking about these but let me know if you think there is a better combo, I like the 14-20k look

Are you referring to the 60" Tek 8x80w? And is there really a $400 difference between the ATI Powermodule and the Tek? Opinions on running a ATI 6x80w Powermodule v. a Tek 8x80w. I want to stay somewhere under 800 and I was hoping for more around $600 but I do want a nice tank. I just want to put some nice bright coral in there and be able to enjoy it growing/fragging etc.
 
yo makdaddy why not get the sunpower? its better than the tek and not as expensive as the pm. the only difference is it has less fans and doesnt look as nice (to some) but the sunpower is a lot lighter compared to the heavy @$$ pm
 
Grim,
In my 180 I plan on instaling 6-60" t5's and 2-72" VHO's, all on Ice Cap ballasts, the long term plan is to use the VHO's strictly for UVL actinic 03's, but I currently have some 72" UVL actinic white 50/50's that I would like to use up. So how is this for the layout?

I am in the process of working on upgrading to a 48x48x24 cube tank. It will be a mixed reef but mostly SPS. I have been told to use two tek t5 fixtures over the tank. My question is should i do two 6x54w or two 8x54w fixtures? And which bulbs and how many of each should I use? Thanks in advanced for your help!

I am keeping softies and lps. I don't want to fry them, but I want good growth. How high should I keep the unit off the top of the tank (24") that will promote good polyp extention. Is the bulb combo good, or should I switch it to...

Alright here is a crappy pic of my pitiful setup that I'm eager to bring to life. My question was oriented around what is the best setup for lighting on this for around 700-800 dollars. After doing some reading it seems a hood presents some problems with heat and other issues. What do I get?

Grim , I have the Nova 8x54. I have all Geismann bulbs What combo should I do to get my mixed reef colors to look bright "on fire" Thanks

First one seeing as how UVL Doesn't make 60" lamps

If you want the best you gotta pay for it. I would probably go with the 8 lamp Tek over the 6 lamp ATI. Really need 8 lamps over a 24" deep tank unless you are leaving the sandbed open.

I would do 2 6 lamp ATI Sunpowers instead.

Nice broad spectrum with a lot of blue, about 15K and high PAR.

Bout 4" above the water should be fine. I had mine sat right on top of a 22" tall tank.

I'd probably do the lower mix but both are fine.

Pitiful? Looks nice to me. I am guessing it's a 120.

You could just mount the lamps to the underside of the lid. Works slick. As long as you have about 6" from the top of the water to the inside of the lid you should be fine. Mount a fan on one side of the rear of the canopy so it blows air down the row of endcaps and it will be fine.
 
Grim what do you think of the 48inch Current Nova Extreme Pro for a 55 gal and what bulbs would you swap out of it . it comes with 3/10k and 3-54 watt 460 nm actinic

how is the par on the fiji purp? i am currently running on my 24'' 4 bulb sunpower

i really like the look of dawn dusk with the blue + and the fiji purp running. it looks very "sunsettish". however my main concerns are sps coloration and growth. What would you recommend? i have a bunch of other bulbs laying around.

my growth is noticeable almost daily in most corals but i want these sticks to be weeds!
