Thanks again Grim for all of your help!

I am also running an 8 x 54W fixture over my frag tank. Would you suggest 2 6700k for better growth or would it be way to yellow?

Tek 8x54w over a 75g half sps half lps. Best part without too white. Right now running 2 ati ab special 2 fiji purple and 4 ati blue plus.

Tiny bit on the blue side for my taste

What do you mean "Best part without too white", then you say too blue? I have the same fixture and looking to put ATI bulbs in now.

I'm building a 70"l x 36"w x 24-28"h SPS dominant mixed reef. I love my current ATI PM 10x 54 watt over my 185. What do folks suggest for the new tank? 2 6 bulb 80w fixtures or 2 8 bulb fixtures? Or maybe something I'm not thinking of...
Thanks for any input.

T5 Experts, please chime in?

Any benefits to adding VHO's (purely for actinics) to a T5 Illuminated Tank? Or are the results the same as running T5 bulbs for actinics?

Reason I ask is because I recently upgraded to a Custom 190g which is 30"W. I lack light towards the front and back of the tank; I'm currently running an Constellation fixture, so I can probably slip one retrofitted VHO in front and one in back. Because of space limitation, I may have to resort to retrofits...just not sure if I should add VHO's or stick to all T5's.

alright now this is my set up do you see a problem with it, and how about a way to set them up for a dusk and dawn...

Front
blue plus
aqua spezial
blue plus
aqua spezial
actinic
aqua spezial

I'd add another Blue Plus in place of an Aquablue. Blue Plus and Actinic would be good for dusk/dawn.

I'd really prefer to not have a "warmer looking light". What about the following combos:

1. Current 12000K TrueLumen White & Current 460nm Actinic

2. Wavepoint sun wave 12000K & Wavepoint Blue Wave 460nm Actinic

i think maybe the current or wavepoint 12k bulbs would be less warm than the uvl 10k or 12k. is this correct? or would my color simply be warm because a 50/50 look is actually warmer than most people prefer?

sorry i just am really lost when it comes to T5 bulbs, and no one has a 2 bulb setup to copy. thanks for the help!!

Either of those should be good

VHO would get you looks, T5's more PAR. If PAR isn't an issue go for the looks.

Hi Grim and others. Anyone mod a Biocube 29 hood with t-5's yet? I heard Nanotuners is working on one. I was gonna try UVL's PC-R bulbs, but T-5 would be best huh?

I'm sure this is in here somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. It's about time to replace my bulbs and I'm considering tweaking my combination by replacing my KZ Fiji Purple with a Giesmann Actinic Pink. Anyone have experience with the latter and how it would compare? Thanks!

Hope you are using good equipment if you want a anemone.

ATI Blue Plus and Aquablue.

That is the combo I thought you were going to say, I think I have the ATI bulbs figured out now. I will have switched all of my tanks to T5 in the next week or so. Thanks for the anemone concern, I do have many years experience with them.

Did you have a chance to think about the two 6700k on the 8 bulb fixture?

Thanks,

Joel

I am in the process of changing out my Cf for T5's with a 250w 14k MH. I will be running four T5's....what combo should I use?

Have you considered LED's? I added Reefbrite LED Blue strips to my T5 fixture over my 90g that blows away any VHO or Actinic blue bulb I have ever seen. The RB strips come with brackets so you can angle the fixture to light the front/sides/rear of your corals. I have had good response in corals deepening in colors and florecence since adding the LED's.

Here is a pic I took the other night (lights off)
