Hello Mr. Grim!
I was given this T5 light fixture Odyssea 48" 216W (4x 54W) T5 HO Light Fixture Extendable Series
for my 48W X 12D X 18H FOWLR tank. 2 months old fixture. Comes with
2x 54W T5 HO lamps 10000K
2x 54W T5 HO lamps Actinic Blue
4x LED
Will these lights work? If not, what do you recommend? Also, I plan on putting the lights on a timer. The LEDs to come on at night. What order would you put them on and for how long?

is there any difference b/t the GE 6500K Daylight and the Giesemann Midday 6000K bulbs?
is one a better quality bulb over the other for growth and color?
which would you use in conjunction with blue + and actinic white?

Us 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue and 1 ATI Purple Plus. Use the blue blue for dusk/dawn. These lamps are high PAR which will help with the low end fixture you have.

GE seems a little better to me but I doubt there is much difference.

I just got this setup and this is how I'm running them.
Front:
Blue+
Aquablue Special
Blue+
Purple+
Blue+
Blue+
I do run bulbs 1, 3, 4, & 6 longer than bulbs 2 & 5. So the
Blue+
Blue+
Purple+
Blue+
comes on 1st, then the Aquablue and other Blue+ runs midday. I think it has a cool look to it. The corals pop with the 4 bulbs on, and with the 6 on it's got around a 15k look.

glad a friend pointed me to here, sounds like grim is the man for light know-how. here is my deal, im looking into an 8 bulb, T5 HO fixture for my 55 reef. i know i could get by with a 6 bulb but this fixture is a good deal. ive listed all i know about the fixture (not alot lol) but im assuming it has dawn/dusk capability. im really interested in SPS and have good growth with a few SPS in the top 10" on water with my 2 bulb T5 fixture O.O
im curious what would be the best combo for growth and color. im tired of the yellow/orange i have on one of my other tanks and really like the combo or 10k/420nm i have over the 55 right now. id like the tank to look for blue but also have good grorth. i hear i have a lot of options for an 8 bulb fixture so what would you do? thanks for the help.

I wish I could Grim but the only camera I have now is a crappy cell phone camera. My digital SLR was stolen in Mexico a year ago.

Right now I have been running 3 ATI Blue +'s, 2 ATI Aquablue and 1 KZ Fiji Purple and will probably go to the new arrangement I listed above since I was a 20K look but was looking for some pictures and can't seem to find any.

6 lamps on a 55 is overkill, 8 is stupid
Seriously if this is a standard 48x12 footprint 55 a 4 lamp Tek light would let you keep what you want.
