Grim,
I picked up a used Current Outer Orbit Pro fixture for a 120g tank. I have 2 brand new 15k 250 watt XM bulbs for the halides. Also received 2 brand new Geismann t5's, one is a Pure Actinic, and the other is an Actinic +. If i were to use these t5's, what other 2 bulbs would you recommend. If i were to buy 4 new T5's, what would you recommend to compliment the 15k XM's? Thanks in advance for the help!
Phil
Hi Grim,
Are these two lamps similar? Should I change it back to ATI Blue Plus?
Thanks
Hi all,
I have a 4'x2'x2' 120 gallon and looking to get a T5 light for it. Is an ATI 10x54W Powermodule overkill? Should I stick with the 8 bulb version?
Thoughts on a good combination of bulbs?
Thanks!
I have to replace my lamps. Suggestions would be awesome!
2x250watt HQI
4x54watt T5's
I'm going with Phoenix 14K halides.
My T5's I'm not sure about. The T5's turn on two at a time, so I can basically control a pair of T5's separately, and the halides separately. At any time, I don't want it to be too blue.
I want to turn on one pair of T5's for sunrise, second T5's later, and then halides, then reverse for the sunset.
I'm thinking:
Front
ATI Blue Plus
GE 6500K
Halides
UVL Actinic White (50/50)
ATI Blue Plus
Any suggestions? I like a crisp white color as a personal preference (close to blue).
im setting up a dual 40 breeder system. (one as a display, the other a frag tank, both plumbed into a 75 sump)
looking at useing 4 36'' t5's over each tank. i like lps and softies most, but when i get the sps itch should 4 bulbs still be plenty for such shallow tanks (16'')? im thinking yes, but wanted some others opinions.
Hey Grim i posted on your homepage today with your opinion on A bulb combo 4 bulb fixture with 3 ATI blue plus and A 75/25 UVL How would this work out growth, Have A mixture of sps, lps and some zoes.
A 10 bulb is the minimum I would go on a 36" tank. I would really shoot for 12 bulbs.
2 ATI Sunpowers in the 6x54w version would work great.
As far as bulbs go, I would run something like 8 ATI Blue Plus, 2 ATI Purple Plus and 2 ATI Aquablue.
Grab an extra Aquablue to play with.
This thread is truely amazing I only wish I had the time to go through it all. I was wondering what your thoughts are on my lighting. I have a tek T5 4 bulb setup over a 56 gallon column tank and am keeping SPS and LPS corals. I want to get more color out of my corals and was wondering what bulbs and colors you would recommend for my tank.
Hello guys (mainly the grim reefer, lol). I know this question has been answered dozens of time before... I need some help with my lighting... I have a four bulb T5 fixture and a two bulb fixture as well on ny tank so in total its six bulb. It is a 75g mixed reef, 48in long. I have the bigger light with in the back and smaller one on the from (they are both 48in). My PAR is not as good as it can be and Im changing bulbs soon. I wanted to know what would be the best bulb combo to get for maximum coral growth and also something that will look good. The four bulb light has two separate cords wich makes the two back bulbs come on separately as the two front bulbs and the smaller light is also separate. Could you tell me what to use and in what order please? 1 being the front bulb and 6 being the back bulb.
hay grim first off thanks for all the info..... you are a fish god send lol
my question is i wanted to buy more bulbs for my 4 bulb Aquatic life fixture... i know you don't like those fixtures but thats what fell into my lap anyway i wanted to know what bulbs should i get my tank is a 55gal softy tank i want to go with more LPS so i want more par then the stock bulbs. i don't mind some bule i just don't want a blue dominated tank i know i wanted one purple bulb but don't know the rest can you help me out
thanks
