hello i was wondering what bulbs would i need for a 14k look and 20k look tank is 36x20x18 i have a 6x39w ati powermodule fixture

Hello everyone,

first sorry for my bad english.

Second, i got a 6x24 sunpower and a 8x80 powermodule that im happy with.

But i miss the shimmering of the leds / halide and the so nice blue LEDS give.

Not enough money to change both fixtures at the moment and i was guessing if there was leds module that i could add to my fixtures to give the shimmering and / or the nice blue fluorescent.

LEDS are not very easy to find in france and i dont have a lot of informations on that, i think i saw some leds fixtures that are like a T5 bulb and that can maybe replace one in my ATI, i heard about a few other stuff on this forum, but hard to understand everything and find what im exactly looking for.

So, any idea of a led i could add to ati fixture to get a better moon / fluo blue and maybe gives a little shimmering effect ?

thanks !

You would have to have VERY powerful LED's to produce shimmers with T5's. Those tubes with led's inside are weak. You can add moonlights to the outside edge of the fixture if you want but you wont get shimmer with the T5s on.

Grim,

I currently running this on an ATI PM

B+
FP
B+
NG
B+
NG

I still think I'm masking some of the true colors of the corals with this combo. How do you think a GE 6500K would look in that 4th spot in place of the NG?

i have a 36" long two bulb going over a 30" long 12" deep tank with shrooms and would like to add my mini carpets. what bulbs would you suggest to get the colours to pop and at the same time support the nems.
thanks

Ok Grim so goodbye the shimmer.
For the blue fluorescent look what would you advise ?
I've read about r2

And guessing if i should just shut off all the t5 to use only moonlight led for a better dusk/dawn with powerfull enough leds or just use some kind of moonlight after everything is off for the night
But then i guess i wont have a very nice blue as it may have not to be too strong to keep the fish in the dark enough

I've seen blue leds dusk/dawn and im just crazy about it, no way for the shimmer, a way for that ?

Thanks !

If you just use the LED's at dusk dawn you'll have shimmer then.

suggestions for adding lighting

i have the 6x54 ati fixture over this 28in deep tank now what lighting should i add i dont have have much space maybe a couple inches because of the size of the ati fixture i would like to be able to grow sps anywhere in the tank or am i able to do that with an ati sunpower 6x54

Hello,

I am looking for t5 suggestions for 54 gallon corner the tank is 23 inches deep width wise gives room for a 24" fixture. I plan to keep a mixed reef easy sps and lps. I am just wandering about affordable fixture (new ATI is not in the budget) and # of Bulbs

Thanks

Brad

I am thinking about changeing from mhs on my 240 8x2x2 to t5's.I have 2 6x54 tek light fixtures. What bulb would give a 14 to 20k look and how high should I mount the fixtures from the waters surface. Thanks

Powermodule would be better but a Sunpower will work.

A tek with as many lamps as you can fit over the tank.

6 rows of lamps isn't a lot of light for that size a tank. I'd keep them about 6" above the water. 4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 Purple Plus and a GE 6500K Daylight in each fixture.

Hey Grim... I waded through a bunch of pages already and have discovered that my lowly 4 bulb fixture doesn't get as much love as the 6s and 8s. I've got a retrofit Sunlight supply 4x39 setup w/ the tek2 reflectors.

Right now I have a KZ fiji purple, ATI Blue +, some UVL (I think) actinic and some UVL daylight that reefgeek used to sell as a pair. The bulbs are old now, 1.5 years or so, and need to be replaced. I like a little more blue in the light, my wife likes the daylight look... I'd like to make it just a tad bit more blue than I currently have it.

I've got one ATI Blue + sitting here brand new, so I just need the other three. From reading other recommendations, I'm *guessing* you'll suggest that I buy another ATI Blue+, an ATI Aquablue and a UVL Actinic white?

I've got a mixed reef, mostly LPS with a few scattered SPS, am I on the right track?
