Any brand will work as long as they are High Output.

For 4 bulbs I would run 2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 KZ New Generation and 1 ATI Purple Plus

4 ATI Blue Plus, 1 GE 6500k and 1 ATI Purple Plus

The New Gen is a white bulb with some blue in it. The Blue Plus bulb is BLUE, like totally blue.

The PAR is probably pretty close but the Blue Plus might have the edge.

If you are running a macro tank you will want a lot more daylight in there. I would run it a little differently. I once had a FW planted tank with 4 bulbs and I used 2 ATI Aquablue Special, 1 GE 6500k and 1 Geisemann AquaFlora. It grew the plants really well, almost too well.

So I would try something like 3 ATI Aquablue, 2 GE 6500k, 2 Gmann AquaFlora (if they still make it) and an ATI Blue Plus. I throw the blue plus in there so it won't be too overly yellow and also adds a little more spectrum.
 
Hi I am new to posting here and have a bulb configuration question. I have a 36" x 8" Nova Extreme fixture, which i know is not that good, it's a 65 gallon mixed reef.. what I have now is:
1 X ati blue plus
1 X ati aqua blue special
1 X ati blue plus
1 X uv 75/25
is this a decent configuration? I had another nova 2 bulb fixture I was using in conjunction with the 4 bulb fixture, so i have 1 more blue plus and 1 uv acitnic white to work with plus the original 10k and 420 nm that came with the fixtures can you please recommend a 4 and 6 bulb config with what I have or do I need different bulbs? Thanks in advance

Your combo will work for now.

when it comes time to replace your bulbs I would just replace the UVL 75/25 with an ATI Purple Plus.
 
My ATI Actinics should arrive today. Here's the plan for the set up front to back in my ATI fixture.

Blue+
Actinic
Purple+
Purple+
Actinic
Blue+

Hello I have a 4x24w fixture with currently 1 blue+,1purple+,and 2 antics that came with the fixture. I want to replace the 2 antics. But I'm looking for the color the fixture gave .me with the factory 2 current actnics and whites or whatever they are. I got a purple plus because I heard good about them but i don't like the purple look. Although I like the look of the tactory bulbs I'm searching better par. Also when you recommend bulbs can you list the bulbs in order of placement. Thanks.

Another Lighting Question

:wave:Hello Everyone.

Prior to reading through the thread I thought I knew what the right lighting combination was but I am a little less confident now. I have a 90g with an 8 bulb tek fixture.

Can someone please suggest what I should be using and what the bulb placement should be? Also, my fixture has 2 switches, how long should I keep each of the switches on for and should they overlap while on?

I have 6 T5 lamps over a 120 and want a 20K Look at dawn/dusk and at least a 16K look during the day.

I am thinking:

3 Blue +
2 aquablue
1 Figi purple

Will this get the the color I am looking for and 2 will these provide a sufficient spectrum for sps since it will be on the lower side of intensity for the tank?
 
Update, I got 4 ati blue plus bulbs today.

Tried them out, and moved position, ended up with this mix and am pleased.
