It's a crap shoot as far as the PC ballast firing a t5.

even as they are electronic ballast?

im thinking each ballast powers 2x 65w PC, so it should power 2x 54w 48" T5HO

A T8 ballast is electronic too, that doesn't mean they will fire a T5 or a PC.

Odds are it will light. I wouldn't suggest using it though - real T5 ballasts are much smarter than straight electronic ballasts.

so ,you think T5HO will make a big diference vs 4x 65w PC, to supplement a Dual 250w MH Phoenix 14k, to justify the cost of new bulbs, end caps and ballast?

Powermoduls 8x39w

Powermoduls 8x39w

My ATI Powermodules came in!!

They are NICE, and well made

The Aquasun has a slight amount of red in the output, the 3000K has more. I personally prefer the colors I get with the 3000K. It brings out more pink and purple colors.

Go with the UVL Super Actinic, less money and if there is a difference in the color I couldn't see it.

Great... just one more question... For the Aquablue, do I want to buy the Geismann or Ati bulb?

Thanks,

Are they going to be making a 36" version of the power module? If so, anyone have an idea on how much they will be?

Mine is a 36"'er ;) 8x39w = $839. 6x39w = $600-650.

I recently powered up my T5HOs with an Advance T8 ballast. I am overdriving them too and it works great. I have a fan cooling the set up and so far so good. Very bright and it is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying an IceCap ballast. The only downside I can think of is that the bulbs won't last as long, but I will replace at 1 year anyway.

839.00???? What makes these so great compared to, lets say, me doing a 8x39 watt t-5 icecap retro? Maybe I'm a little behind on things, but that seems pretty high:)

That is probably about the same as running them on a Workhorse ballast. Some have good luck and some don/t

It's sexy :D...probably not worth that kind of money, but I like it for the convenience of not having to build it myself. Active cooling, ballasts, etc are all good and all packaged in one already.

Understandable... Is it the ballast that makes the powermodules so much better than the TEKs?
hmmm, Not sure what I am going to do, but it will be soon. Grim, soon you'll have another T-5 noob picking yuor brain! LOL

Active cooling and much better reflectors give it twice the Par of an equivalent length/bulb Teklight.

Also, Sunlight Supply has proven itself to be a horrible company in many different ways from trying to legally intimidate IceCap to giving non-existent customer service not to mention making poorly designed and inferior products.

Why anyone would give them money is beyond me.
