The T5 Q&a Thread

Just got a 120 gallon, it took an impressive 5 weeks to get the urge to upgrade, and I was very happy with how my Tek fixture worked in my 58 (21 deep). Question is, do you suggest the Tek 8 x 54 fxiture or the limited edition 6 x 54 that supposedly has improved reflectors? They are about the same price (5 dollar difference) but I didn't know if the extra 108 watts made up for the difference of the reflectors. THe tank is 24" deep.

Thanks

Cant find bulb

I was about to place a bulb order from reefgeek for my new prop tank. However i cant seem to find all the bulbs that were recommended to me...

Blue Plus
GE 3000K
Blue Plus
ATI Sun Pro
Blue Plus

I cant find the ATI Sun Pro

Any suggestions on an alternate bulb or is it under another name that im just not seeing?

Tanks

If you just gotta have a tek the LE would be better. I'd look at the Aquactinics stuff too. A 7 lamp constellation would be tasty on that tank.

The Sun Pros are probably gone. Use a GE 6500K instead. If they are out of Blue Plus you can use Actinic Plus instead

I had suggested it, but then in a moment of blankness I thought it only had 6 lamps, and so i erased it from my original post.

Well then its a done deal. Do you know if the 48" version has the same fans that the 72" version has? I don't see anything int eh description or see them in the pictures.

Thanks!

Can someone tell me if these fans will be good enough to cool down 12 39w t5 ho bulbs overdriven by Icecaps. If so how many do I need? 2,4, or 6?http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1189699

Should be good with one blowing down each row of endcaps,

If you are running the lamps side by side to cover a 6 foot tank one og the bigger ones would probably handle the 2 sets of encaps in the middle.

I assume it's the same fans. You can ask Tom in the Aquactinics forum.

Yes, I'll be running the lamps side by side on a 6 foot tank, or 6 rows of lamps. So, when you say one blowing down each row of endcaps, you mean 6 fans all on one side? he's not selling the bigger ones just the 60mm ones.

No. Blowing in from the rear of the canopy down the row of endcaps, not blowing down the lamps from the endcaps. 3 fans will do it.

Would the Aquactinics TX5 5 bulb be a good fixture for a 55 gallon? Softies, LPS, Clams, and a couple SPS?

Thanks.

BTW, what bulbs would you recomend. It's a standard 6 foot 125g and I plan 90% SPS.

Now I have to ask which ones would you wire together to get a dusk to dawn effect? It'll be 4 bulbs per ballast.

1) Blue Plus Blue Plus
2) Super Actinic Super Actinic
3) UVL Aquasun UVL Aquasun
4) Blue Plus Blue Plus
5) UVL Aquablue UVL Aquablue
6) Blue Plus Blue Plus

BTW, thanks for the help!

Sure

Concidering this fixture will be going over a 55 gallon and with the individual reflectors, will I notice each separate color in the tank or will it blend all together before it is displayed? Kinda get what I am saying?

From the front, it'll be blended fine. If you look from the side you'll probably be able to see different areas in different colors, but it's nothing to worry about.
I saw your other thread about what T5s to get. Don't worry and just get the Aquactinics fixture.
