I would expect the actinics to die first.

If you were to use the 75/25 I would use it in place of the super actinic, not Aquasun. It is a white lamp with 75% actinic phosphores so it has a sorta purply tint. Nice lamp. Would brigghten the look a little and perhaps add a little red spectrum.

hmm
that would be difficult for me... i'd have to give up the SA. I have really grown attached to the SA bulb. It is pretty purple to me. You thinhk it would purple it up more?

Doubt it

Grim,

Have you heard anything about the Helio 71.5" T5 Bulbs?

http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...D&Product_Code=VIA-25408&Category_Code=Helios

It seems as if they have 4 different 71.5" bulbs available. Do you know if an IC 660 will fire these? Also, the daylight bulb looks to cover a similar spectrum to the aquasun.

What are you thoughts? I've got 2 660s left to utilize and was going to run 4 60" t5s but was considering running the 71" midday bulb from helio (instead of the 60" Midday for ATI) along with 2 blue+(ATI 60") and an aquablue (ATI 60").

Essentially I'm just wondering what anyones heard about those 71" t5 bulbs.

Thanks!

Does anyone have any experience with the Oceanic High Output T-5 48" fixture? I'm looking into one for my 60 gal. softy/LPS reef. Pros/cons? Thanks!

Grim,

On the ATI Powermodule 48" 2x 54w fixture....what is the max spread width wise over a tank...front to back if the fixture is mounted 6 inches above the tank with 14-16 inches to the sandbed?

What about the 48" 4x54w?

I'm considering having a 96"L x 18w x 18 high tank built. If I went with 2 ATI fixtures, I was wondering If I could get away with two of the 2 bulb fixtures with that shallow of a width and height?

t5 question

t5 question

dear grim

i have a 60"x24"X24" tank which i want to keep mainly softies and lps, i also have an anemone (a split not a wild) if that make any difference in terms of light needed?

i wanted to get aquactinics constellation but having a 60" long tank it has thrown that idea out of the window i already have a wooden canopy above the tank, what is the best alternative?

Thank you,
marc

I'd like to get some opinions on a lighting setup I am purchasing...
Which combo/supplemental option would you go with? Any suggestions would be great!!

Aquarium Size: 100 G Cube (30x35x22) â€"œ
Fixture: Giesemann SPECTRA 1x400w, 4 x T5 (24w)

Option 1
400w Halide
• Radium 20k
T-5 Combo (24w)
• ATI blue Plus
• UVL Super actinic
• KZ Fiji Purple
• Giesemann Midday 6000K

Option 2
400w Halide
• Aquaconnect 14000 K
T-5 Combo (24w)
• ATI blue Plus
• UVL Super actinic
• KZ Fiji Purple
• UVL Super actinic

Option 3
400w Halide
• ReefLux 12,000K
T-5 Combo (24w)
• ATI blue Plus
• UVL Super actinic
• KZ Fiji Purple
• UVL Super actinic

im @ 7" and love the color. i have 2 blue+, 2 aqua blue, and a uv 75/25 and an aquasun. dont have a PAR meter but my corals are very happy, green birdsnest is looking awesome!

I have a question about raising the lights from about 4" to about 6-7" also...I wonder, if at the lower 4", that you don't get the full coverage and "blending" of the colors of the bulbs...but that each bulb really only lights right under where it is mostly, you know, kindof like a light stripe... And by raising the fixture a little higher the bulbs would spread their color and light a little more, thereby getting a more truer color representation of the chosen mix of bulbs..???? does that all make sense? Grim, what do you reckon about this concept?

The superblue is a nice lamp and the daylight is also good but I have never done much with their 72" lamps so I cant say about them specifically. The Ice Cap ballast should be able to run 2.

Thanks grim, but would you say metal halides would be a better option over 6 T5HO for my tank (36x24x18)?

Not really, your either going to have to use a 250 in a lumenarc or 2 150/175's to cover the tank. Kinda a tossup

4 lamp fixtures at a minimum. You get a better look that way so its more than just the light spread. Only using 2 lamps limits you to a blue and day lamp.

grim, my bulbs are 7" off the surface of my water, should i use a glass barrier?

I wouldn't. Unless you have some serious surface agitation spray shouldn't be an issue.

The Constellation would work but if you want to use the canopy I would get a 6x54 watt retro. The 48" lamps work fine over a 60" tank, its what I use.
