Then you can use the 36" t5 lamps rated for 39 watts (or 60 in the case of UVL's)

Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Super Actinic
UVL Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
ATI Bue Plus

Ok I see, thanks,

If I wanted to switch to a 48" set up what ballasts and bulbs would be the best, I noticed that on reefgeeks site the ati bulbs are 46.5" long.

I'd say at least 20% probably more like 30.

mine are about 4inchs above water. i have no splash guard. would sitting them 3 inchs above the water be ok? will it increase the PAR much?

thanks

Grim,

I am converting my 2x160w 72" VHOs to 2x80w 60" T5s on my Icecap 660.
Which T5 bulbs would you recommend to replace the URI Super Actinic VHOs?

Grim - I'm fine tuning my bulb selection. Which has more PAR, the ATI Procolor or the UVL Aquasun?

aquasun by a fair bit

I've got a Tek5 6x54 Watt Fixture of my 90 Gallon AGA.

This will be a mainly LPS Tank w/ a clam or 2. The bulbs I have currently very old, and the Names of all of the bulbs have been worn off so I don't know which to order as replacements.

Here's how the tank looks now, I would like to keep a similar look w/o sacrificing growth/coloring for my corals and clams.

I know pictures are typically useless, but I figured I would post it up in case it happens to help:

Try This

Front
NO Blue 22000K 460nm
T5 Blue
T5 sun/daylight/6500K/Midday/11000K
NO Actinic 420nm
T5 sun/Daylight/6500K not 11000K
NO Blue
T5 11000K only
T5 Blue

was wondering...

in my place, i couldnt find the 22000k 460nm blue,
would it be ok or is too much to replace it with the
actinic 420nm? or would it have some adverse effects?

regarding growth...

which light would promote coral growth?
11000k or actinics?

i dont know where i read this but there was someone
who said that actinics should not be counted when
computing for the light requirement of corals...
any comments?

from reading, the 6500 promotes growth of macro...
right?

thanks

Grim...

I know this info is somewhere on here, but I have searched and can't find it...do you know what the PAR of the UVL 75/25 bulb is?

thanks!

will 4 24" t5 OD by IC660 be an overkill for a 20g long? about 12" deep, keeping SPS and zoas. The lights will be about 4-5" from the water.

Go to the Equipment forum. There's a gentleman there who goes by Grim Reefer who is freakishly smart on choosing T-5 lighting combinations.

Grim,

I hope you can help. I have heard this is the thread to post in to get your help!

In my T5 fixture which of the following do you think would look the best, and provide the best growth/par/whatever you want to call it? I have heard that Giesemann are some of the best bulbs to use (but I could be wrong). Here are the combinations that I came up with for bulb order (back to front). Which one should I go with?:

-= Option #1 =-
Giesemann POWERCHROME Pure Actinic 420nm
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 15k
Giesemann PowerChrome midday
Giesemann PowerChrome midday
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 15k
Giesemann POWERCHROME Pure Actinic 420nm

-= Option #2 =-
Giesemann POWERCHROME Pure Actinic 420nm
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 22k
Giesemann PowerChrome midday
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 15k
Giesemann PowerChrome midday
Giesemann POWERCHROME Pure Actinic 420nm

-= Option #3 =-
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 22k
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 15k
Giesemann PowerChrome midday
Giesemann POWERCHROME Pure Actinic 420nm
Giesemann PowerChrome midday
Giesemann POWERCHROME Aquablue Plus + 22k

-= Option #4 =-
Something completely different. If so what?

Grim, you deserve a medal for your time and patience. I went through about 40 pages and was looking for what you would recommend for a 125 gallon (standard 72" long). It's a Perfecto with only a center brace. It will be going in my basement wall and probably hanging from the floor joists. What light setup would you use? 8X80? I will have LPS, SPS and clams. Thanks in advance!

Those are the ones. They just call them 48" cause with water proof endcaps they are just under 48" long

Leave them at 4. Going lower wont be worth the hastly of salt spray getting all over everything

ATI Actinic and a Blue Plus. The combo looks good.

Aquasun by about 300%

Grim,

I currently have a IC660 retro over my 75 and am about to change the bulbs. The current bulb combo I am running and was recommended by my whole seller is:

Front
UVL Actinic White
UVL Actinic White
UVL Super Atinic
UVL Actinic White

I am getting great growth rates on my sps but my colors aren't "popping" as much as I would like. Any recommendation on a new bulb combo? I saw you recommend another reefer this combo:

Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Super Actinic
UVL Aquasun
ATI Blue Plus

Thanks.
