Hey grim thanks for the help,
I decided to get the 6-54w ho setup from reefgeek with your bulb combo
Is this enough light for a 18" deep 75 Gal or should I get the 660 setup.
If I switch the blue plus for another aqua sun would that make a vast difference I don't want to be too blue

blue plus
super actinic
aquasun
aquasun
aquablue b
blue plus

Grimm-
New to T5 lighting and need to order 14 bulbs for a72" constellation fixture and would like to know which bulbs you suggest and what order you suggest they be installed.

The tank is 29" deep, and will have a wide variety of corals(lps, sps, etc). Not sure which bulbs have what effect on the tank so your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks jolene

You would have plenty of intensity with the original mix. You could use a second Aquasun instead of an aquablue if you want a brighter look

Hi Grim,

I'm using aquaz ocean pro bulbs (as my white) cuz they are much cheaper in australia but they look a bit yellow. not sure if that is just because they are between Blue+ though. Do you know if the ati aquablues are the same colour? are they a crisp white or do they have a hint of blue?

thanks

Aaron

The Aquablue will be ice white with a little blue to it. The reason they are more expensive is they use actinic phosphores in it.

Grim-thanks for the fast response-your information on here is amazing andyour time spent on this fourum is greatly appreciated!

Next question since I am not sure what all the bulbs do(sorry)-do you keep any of these on all night -since the fixture has no LED options?

The UVL 75/25-what does this light do-I do not see it suggested as often as other choices.

thanks again for all the help

Hey Grim,
I have a Aquatinics TX5 5X54 over a 55 gallon.
I was wondering if you could tell me a bulb combo to give the tank more of a 14k-20k look. Much appreciated.

T5 fixture advice

T5 fixture advice

Just wondering what every one thinks about this fixture

48" 216W (4-54 watt) Quad T6 Fluorescent Light Fixture (W/B) (aquatraders crap)

I was in a pinch and need light quick and the budget was in a place where I couldn't buy a good fixture quickly. I suspect this whole thing in junk since I cant find T6 HO bulbs any where but on the website above. Am I right? Are these light crap? Can the bulbs be swithched to T5s easily? Should I just toss them and buy a better fixture...If so how does this one rate?

Current Nova Extreme Pro Saltwater T-5 Fixtures

I dont have a huge budget for puchase (Military) so hopefully this one will work for me. I am putting it over a standard sized All Glass 75 gallon tank. Plan to do a mix of corals soft and hard. I have a frag of birdsnest in the tank now that has been doing good for the past two months. I just dont have any faith my current lights and can't get any info from the site I bought them from.

Also, I was wondering how far off the top of the tank is best for T5 lighting to be optimal.
Any help/advice would be great.
Thanks

I had one of those T6 fixtures, got it off e bay. seemed to do the job but quickly crapped out. I ended up stripping the moon lights and switches out of it and pitching the rest.

On a diffrent note I just picked up a 150 gallon tall (31 inches) I've got 2 IC660's running 8 T12's with out reflectors that I transfered over from my old tank. I'm not keeping anything other then some zoa's, a colt, and a small cup coral. I'd like that to a mixed set up once the tank is a little more established. I was thinking about switching over to T5's to gain a little room in my hood, but again I'd like to be able to put any thign i want in the the tank with out worry.

Is it pointless in a tank this deep to try the T5's?
Do i even have enough lighting now with the T12's in a tank this deep?

Don't leave any on all night. Night lights are optional. your critters can do fine without them.

The 75/25 adds a little brightnes/PAR but also a lot of actinic. They wont give you the cool subdued look a straight actinic will but at 29" tall you need all the intensity you can get.

The ocean pro didn't look yellow to me but it didn't have the same look as the Aquablue.

With Ice Cap or Aquactinics reflectors the T5's will be enough for a mixed reef. Just keep any SPS at the top of the rocks.

The tank is 20" deep, and will be a FOWLR. Not sure which bulbs to go with so your suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
