Hi grim. I am in need of replacing my bulbs on my light fixture. I have a 6x39 fixture over a 30 gallon tank. My fixture does have individual reflectors but not good ones. I am starting to convert my tank to mostly LPS and zoos with the occasional sps. What bulbs would you recommend for good color and fluorescence and will also give my tank a more bluer look? Thanks so much for the help.

One more ?

Grim,

Since you're on a roll... I asked this question on another thread, but here goes...

I have Current USA Outer Orbit systems on my tanks. I replaced the Current USA MH with Phoenix 14K DE bulbs.

I am ready to replace the T5s in both fixtures and would appreciate informed suggestions for T5s to complement the MH and combine color balance and growth? Of course, the T5s are on front and rear of the MH.

What T5 combinations would you recommend using the following configurations and planned usage?

The 48" Outer Orbit uses (4) 54W t5 bulbs
48" 4-54W
Front (sandbed)
Row 1
Row 2
2 x 150W Phoenix 14K MH
Row 3
Row 4
Back (Rock & LPS, softies, zoas, palys, acans)

The 72" Outer Orbit uses (8) 39W T5s in (4) rows.
Front (sandbed)
Row 1
Row 2
3 x 250W Phoenix 14K MH
Row 3
Row 4
Back (SPS, SPS, SPS)

Thanks very much...

LL

OK Grim, final question, I know, I'm full of them! :)

If I go with the two rows of Blue Plus for my T5's

Should I only have 1 Actinic White VHO (which is a 50/50 combination on triband and actinic phosphors bulb) and 3 Super Actinics, or stick with 2 Whites and 2 Super Act?

I'm looking for a blue 20K look with as high PAR as possible with 4 54W bulbs.

I asked you a few months to a year ago about bulbs, but I'm wondering if this is still what you would recommend for that blue blue 20K look with high PAR (I know I'm asking for a lot).

For 20K I'd do

Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL 75/25
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus

Should look like a 20K with a little better color rendering for red and yellows.

Slightly off white sorta a light magenta hue,

(re: I personally wouldn't use any of those lamps except the Phillips. Having never seen the hagen on 420 current I cant even give you an opinion of what those mixes would look like.)
Thanks a million Grim...I have those light up now (option A) and will take a pic when I get the other 2 bulbs (option B w/460nm by Current) in so you can see for comparision.

The current 10K and 460's look OK they just have crappy output. I wouldn't bet on the lamp life either. From what I understand the Phillips is the same as the GE 6500K's.

i have a 65g tank (36x18x24tall) i can only fit 7 slr reflectors so i was thinking 2 660s with the 3 bulbs on 1 Ballast in the center and other 4 bulbs on the 2nd Ballast? or would it be better to have 6 bulbs? 3 and 3 on the 660s. i want to keep lps and soft corals. probably some sps later down the road so i want to get what i need for that now.

T5 - ATI Blue Plus
VHO - UVL Aquasun?
T5 - ATI Blue Plus
VHO - UVL Actinic White?

Thanks a lot. How is the PAR on that? Will it be ok for SPS?
