Check reefgeeks prices before ordering from E bay.

I would drop one of the pure actinics and use another Actinic Plus. The Aquablue is really a white lamp with a slight blue hue so you only have 2 actual blue lamps in your mix.

Thanks for the info Grim.
BTW, I'm not ordering from E-bay, that link was to www.bulkreefsupply.com

Just one last question, so with this set up:
Giesmann true actinic
Giesmann actinic plus
Giesmann 6000k midday
Giesmann 11000k aquablue plus
Giesmann actinic plus
Giesmann actinic plus

Would I get a blue-ish tint in the tank while still allowing coral growth for sps?

Thanks again in advance.

If your tank is really 36" front to back you will need more than 6 bulbs. You will need almost 10 or 12

I just added two Giesemann Powerchrome Actinic Plus's to my setup and noticed a GREAT pop in my greens as well as other corals. No more dingy GSP's and my Palau Green Nethea is frickin' eyeblinding neon.

I am running a mixed setup with some bulbs I already have but am planning on replacing a few with a maybe a Pro Color or 3000K GE.

Front to back:
Powerchrome Actinic Plus
UVL75/25
10000K daylight white
Powerchrome Actinic Plus
6500K daylight -- looking to replace
Generic "blue" bulb -- looking to replace

Grim, would a 6 bulb ATI Powermodule outperform a 6 bulb IceCap retrofit from Reef Geek if I provide enough cooling fans?

so for my 4x39 icecap retro, my 36" canopy is completely closed in, i thought that i would put 3 80mm DC computer fans(each at 28dB) across the back side, 12 inches apart, and figured to have the two on the outside blow out, and the 1 in the middle blow in. Or is there another better method? Like on top of canopy, or on the sides? i guess side would help cool the endcaps, while putting all three in the back would help cool the bulbs itself? Not exaclty sure what to do..I can also up to 5 fans, but figured 3 is good enough...Another method is one on each side and two in the back, all blowing in or out?...

lets try that again 36 long by 36 tall by 24 deep....I dont get much sleep working until 6 am....

I ordered 1 ATI Aqua Sun bulb, should I have ordered a Aquablue bulb instead? I see everyone seem to be using Aquablue. I also ordered 2 Ati Blue Plus, 1 Uvl 75/25. Is there a reason they do not use Aqua Sun?

What is the recommended:
-bulb types
-placement
-bulb count
-bulb to colony base distance

for a 24" bulb ATI powermodule or sunpower; illuminating a single SPS colony (such as a ORA red planet table).

A convenient distance would be around 12 inches, but would be easy to adjust either way. Would just a four bulb fixture be enough for a single colony? Seems like the following is a universal four bulb recommendation:

Front:
ATI Aquablue 12000K
ATI Blue Plus
UV 75/25 14000K
ATI Aquablue 12000K

Or should the UV 75/25 possibly be replaced with an ATI Pro Color or a Korallen Zucht Fiji Purple?

Thanks!

how does this sound for a bulb combo for my 90 gal aga lps tank with maybe a clam on a ledge about half way up?

i have a spot for a fifth bulb but unsure if i will need it yet but if i do what bulb should i add? all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

LOL alright that makes sense now.

You can get away with 6 bulbs over 24". Just make sure to have the high light critters right under the lights and in the future look into adding 2 more bulbs if you can.

Other than that you should be good.

With 4 bulbs the UVL Aquasun really out powers other bulbs. I love the Aquasun bulb and run one but with 4 it becomes a little much.

Your tank will be on the purple side of blue with an aquasun and 75/25. The Aquablue just makes your tank more blue. It's really up to whatever you like.

Over a 90 gallon tank you will want that 5th bulb. I have 6 over mine and am thinking of adding a seventh.

I would add another blue plus or aquablue. Depends on what you like as far as color goes.

Try this instead

Blue Plus
UVL 75/25
GE 6500K Daylight
Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White
Blue Plus

Every lamp in that mix except for the GE has actinic output so you dont need to use a straight actinic lamp. You will get the red from the 75/25 and actinic white so you don't need the pro color. Reason I switched from Pro Color to actinic white is the actinic white is less harsh, has better PAR and has actinic output.

Still get good growth and if you check I think you will find Reefgeeks prices are lower than this place too.

Replace the generic 10K daylight with a UVL Actinic white and see what you think. Better PAR than the Pro Color and not as harshly colored so you get a more subtle red.

Aquasun is a good lamp. You just may get a little more of a purple look because of the red in the 75/25 too. If you don't like what you end up with yank the aquasun for a GR 6500K is you want a less blue look and a Aquablue is you want a more blue look.
