hmm good idea I forgot about the yellows.

The Actinic white has some yellow in it's output but different strokes as far as if it is enough or not.

Have fun

Does anybody know what is the kelvin rating on the KZ fugi purple. My tank i thought was very white with 2 aquablue special, 2 blue plus and the kz fugi purple. So i replaced one of the aquablue special with a blue plus, its still pretty white so im guess the fugi is more of a whiter bulb then what i thought.

how does a Fiji purple compare to a pro color?

I was thinking 2 blue plus an aquablue and either a procolor or Fiji purple.

I saw on another thread a tank that had 6 bulbs. It had 2 pro color 2 aquablue and 2 blue plus and it looked amazing.

After thinking about it I'm not too worries about yellows cuz I plan on keeping mostly zoas, but would like my purple shrooms to look purple not brown like they did under the aquablue and blue plus combination.

It is white with red so when mixed with the blue and green output from a blue plus you get white.

The Fiji Purple is basically an Aquablue with the yellow pulled out of it.

This is 4 blue plus 1 UVL 75/25 and 1 Actinic White, Very accurate picture. It had pretty good color rendering.

The 2, 2 and 2 mix you mentioned would look white with a purple tint in the real world. The Pro Color has a really strong red output, I wouldn't run more than 1 in a six lamp mix.

Haha after all this trouble and thought I think I totally agree with what u first told me. 2 blue plus, 1 aquablue, and 1 uvl 75/25

I dont have pictures but the best way I have seen is if you have a canopy with the lid that lifts open just mount the retros to the under side of the lid.

got the fans.. the canopy I have was originally for MH so the first 3rd hinges open.. I was looking at it today and was thinking of replacing the top with a solid piece of wood and have it hinge from the rear. also what is the height that T5's should be off the surface of the water and where do I mount the 3 ballast that are coming with the retro fit kit? BTW I plan on taking pics and posting for future reference.. thanks..

Only a third hinges open? I think the idea of a new top is a good one. If it was a half hinge you could mount the retro half on the hinged side and half on the fixed but only a third of an opening would be pretty tight.

You want the lamps to be 4 to 6 inches above the water if at all possible. You could go higher but it will cost you intensity. If you go lower you will have to stay on top of washing the salt spray off the lamps and reflectors.

Hi Grim,

I'm getting in my 48" 10 bulb ATI PM unit in this week (fingers crossed). I am currently running Radium 20k bulbs and I really like the colors. I was wondering what bulb combination you would recommend for me to get the same or similar colors as I am getting now with the Radiums. Thanks.

Grim,

I've got a Maristar 48" fixture with two ATI Blue+ T5s and two Helios 20k 250w MH bulbs. It's too blue for me. Originally I had the ATIs with two Giesemann Megachrome Coral MH bulbs and that was two white. I'm looking to tone down the blue a bit- what two T5 bulbs would you recommend for coral growth and knocking down the blue? I know a lot of it's personal taste, but I thought you might have some suggestions. Thanks!

Might need to tweak the positions to get the right lamps for dusk/dawn

Front
ATI Blue Plus
UVL 75/25
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White
ATI Blue Plus
GE 6500K Daylight
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus

Grab an extra Blue Plus and Aquablue so you can play.

ATI Aquablues. They will give you an acceptable Dusk/dawn look, shouldn't wash too much blue out of the 20K's and have a ton of PAR. They are a crisp white with a blue tint to them, close to what the brighter 14K halides look like.

Are the Giesemann Aquablue+ and the ATI Blue + comparable?
My LFS is having a sale, but only carries Giesemann and Coralife brands.

No, the Giesemann Actinic Plus is their blue lamp. The aquablue is about the same as the ATI Aquablue.

Grim,

Any info on the use of all blue plus bulbs longterm? Increased color, poor health, slow growth ....etc

Thanks in advance,
Ron
