The Tank Building Begins!!!!

Chuy, Pedro--Stay tuned. I am going to call GlassCages tomorrow and see if i can get a better price on glass for a group buy. I wasn't going to setup a tank till I got to Phx but as I called all the glass suppliers in EP, LC and Phx, they were expensive (believe me, I called a sh!t load of them). So with that in mind, i couldn't pass up the price they quoted me (glass prices fluctuate daily on the market). They will be in this neck of the woods around late March, early April. So I am ordering my glass around mid March.
To get the one built by GC (my dimensions 48 x 30 x 18 w/3/8" thick glass) to give you an idea, rimless would be around $600, regular tank (w/support brace at top and bottom) is $675 (closest dimensions i could find). You can save 1/2 to 2/3rds the cost if you purchase the glass only depending on thickness of glass and length. If you don't mind a little elbow grease and some DIY, this is the way to go.

My cost was 254 plus 60 in shipping. I will also be ordering the Euro Brace since they forgot or just did not want to include it on the order. You will spend well over 150 in supplies and tooling but i had most of it since i build stands and canopies. Not going to lie they are hard to deal with but i usually like calling and killing with kindness!
Andy's tank was 442 plus 120 in shipping.
Also the tanks will need to be drilled and also have the overflows installed. Thanks

I talk to glass-cages again on the phone since they did not call me back like they said they would. They where very short and rude with me on the phone. I told them i will pay for the glass and shipping to have it sent to me but instead they tried to send me somewhere else. They told me that there rimless does not have bottom Euro bracing and i was well i am staring at one right now. lol What made me mad the most is they cut me off and rushed me off the phone and kept telling me to go somewhere else. I could not believe that type of service! I was nice and polite and told then i will pay for everything and that was not good enough for them.
What also bother me was i asked for Diana since that is the person that i have been dealing with and they said they have never heard of her before. It is crazy what they can get away with up there and now i am debating about even installing the Euro bracing. Thanks

Business must be good to have such poor customer service. I'm just glad Dennis dealt with them for me!! Did you try Art Glass on Mesquite? I know you have good contacts but they treated me really well when they cut the glass for my sump.Jay

There CS is crappy at best. I must have gotten Diane on the right day. Plus, they are the cheapest glass vendor in all 48 states unless you have a direct shipping and buying contact in China. Which she told me they did, that's why they can give the lowest prices. They quoted my $240 for all the glass w/euro bracing. Can't beat that price even with their suck-@ss customer service.I had heard they were tough to deal with.

Art Glass by the Albertson's did not have 1/2" glass but they said they can special order it. They quoted me $250 for the bottom piece of the tank which was 48 x 30, I stopped them right there. Unfortunately, it was the same everywhere else: EP, San Antonio, Phx, Tucson, Albuquerque, etc. Its like picking your poison, getting Sh!tty customer service or saving a couple hundred dollars. I choose the later.

I just recently got of the phone with you guy after i was rushed and hung up on which i am madder then i hornet about!!! I recently order 1/2 glass from you guys to build a 100 gallon wide rimless! I thought the bottom bracing would come with but was informed that they make the tank and then cut the glass. I want to pay for the glass and shipping to have the Euro bracing made for me. I have been trying to get ahold if Diana but the office said they never heard of her. I can not go to any glass company here because they do not have 1/2 or 3/8 in stock. I was hoping to move pass this and order the glass bracing and also two center glass over boxes as well. The dimensions that i need are:
(2) 70 7/8 x 1.5 3/8thick
(2) 20 3/4 x 1.5 3/8thick
On you website it is listed $6sq/ft and i was hoping that you would honor that. I plan on ordering more glass from you guy in the very near future once i finish with this tank. I just feel i should be treat with the same respect that i give you guy and being a customer of yours i hope you can find it in your heart to be nicer. Thanks

Sorry we are unable to send the glass you want to add to your rimless tank. Neither the braces nor the overflow boxes can be shipped.

They did in fact just simply hung up on me where i sat there in said hello several times. They also inform me during the super bowl that they truck broke down and they where going to ship the glass to my address which they confirmed with me. It sounds like to me they just dont want to do business at all which is very sad on there end.
Even if i was lied to about the shipping they could have at least offer to delivery it since the trucks run out this way for a fee. No options? I guess i will start looking for another glass company. Thanks

Glass Cages can easily corner this market if they wanted if they had better customer service and quality products. I have heard many complaints of this company on many other forums about the same thing Steffen has gone through and excessive tank failures. It is to bad customer service is now a lost art in today's business.

I dont know Hans! I usually bend over backwards for people. Even grab my ankles from time to time. lol But to out right refuse to do business with me is a new one in my book. Filing with the BBB about the issue.
Its funny because it is 2:23 in the morning and i am still getting text on advice about saltwater setups from El paso to Palmdale, Cali. lol

But to be very honest, in this poe-ducked town since we have been here I have only been 2 establishment that gave my family and I excellent customer service. Andale's on Mesilla and of all places, Comcast. Sh!t, they even called just to say hi and make sure I was happy with everything. Hell, Directv and their "JD Powers" award told me to f@ck off the other day.
Also, I have never been in a city where so many establishments have refused us business. Its mind blowing how this town makes money or I don't understand how it does.
Oh yeah, and about grabbing the ankles thing, I would keep that hush hush! LOL!!!
