Hi everyone I have been sanding and buffing this tank for 50 hours. I have about another 20 hours to finish,it is 6'x30"wide x 3' tall by 1" thick it has over flows on the sides. the stand I made is in 3 parts bottom, top ,and legs I'm using a 180 gallon for sump. need to put legs on bottom then lift the 180 over the legs then put the top on. now here is the problem can't put pumps inside 1"acrylic to thick for magnets was thinking of drilling a hole in the bottom center but towards the back put a4 way PVC run one pipe left and right to 90 elbow up and strainer and 1strainer on top of the 4 way for a total of 3 strainers then using a 2 way om under the tank using 2 of the pipes from the over flow 1 on each side for returns drilling a hole 2" down from the top of the over flow and pipe it in,then using the last 2 pipes in the overflow as 1 drain to sump the other return from sump the drain to the sump would split some water would go to the refugium and the rest to the skimmer area then the water would run to the center of the sump, where the in sump pump would return it to the tank. any comments would appreciated.
thank you

Not true look up the tunze 6205's they are magnet based powerheads the adjust and everything and are very powerfull but expensive as well, lol. But your plan for a cloosed loop systems sound cool, just the pumps would be more power consumption than those tunze's but the cloosed loop would be cheaper. Its a matter of personal prefference. Just be careful how close you drill the holes and were on the tank close to the seams, etc. Goodluck and post some pict's lol.

the magnets are for under 1"
Magnet Holder - A Standard Feature
As a standard feature, Turbelle® stream® is supplied with a magnetic holder, which enables uncomplicated attachment at any position on the aquarium pane from 19 mm (.74 in.) to 25 mm (.98 in.).

That is weird, i have use both 6200 magnet and the new stream 2 magnet and both works fine in my tank with 1" thick acrylic. The stream 2 magnet is much stronger compare to the old. I think you are reading on the older style magnet and pumps.

I had a hard time reading through the first post with the lack of punctuation. I'm not trying to be a snob or anything, it was just giving me a headache. I'll try to help though.

I have Koralia Magnums from my old tank and my new tank is made from 1" thick acrylic. I am going to buy some strong earth magnets and attach them to the dry side of the magnet holder.

I am curious about the buffing. Are you using a sander? It goes much quicker this way.

yes I'm using a sander the tank was in very bad shape most of the scratches were very deep.sorry about the punctuation at least I got the spelling correct.

it could be worse....144sq' of sanding like 7 times..

My previous tank was badly scratched too but only deeply along the bottom and side of the end panels. What do people clean these things with? Brillo?

I only had that tank running for six months but I didn't put any scratches in it at all. I discovered that I loved acrylic so I decided to upgrade : )

MM949 I have seen your tank posted before. Where's your build thread?

Hi,

If your tank is about 1" thick the Tunzes should be fine.

They are for 25mm as you wrote, therefore there are only 0,4mm missing.
I think this must be in the total tolerance of german engineering :-)

Can´t you get one for testing at your local dealer?
I would prefer some Tunze with a multicontroller or some wavemakers to a closed loop.
I like those waves and in your extra long tank they must be amazing.
Yeah, rolling rolling rolling :-)

Greetings,

Thorsten

P.S. Sorry for my very poor English, I am german.
