What sort of things do you use to get different effects?
Did you try the bubble wrap method mentioned earlier?

Use moist sand to make different shapes. There's a sweet pillar thread around here that shows some cool ideas. I think tankslave posted a pic, he's useing pvc and forming around it. I think I'm gonna try it as well.
I took a bunch of colored aquarium gravel with me to two of the aragocrete workshops this summer. Many of the aquarists there were freshwater. I think they were basically but not exclusively the ones using the colored gravel, and I would not like anything they made in my aquariums, but personal tastes are different. If you use colored gravel some people will love it and others will hate it. It's probably safer to avoid the extreme reactions and not use the colors. I also brought driftwood and mentioned it was freshwater driftwood only.Originally posted by zylumn
It has been a great thread!!
I am starting a new tank and got my list together for the DIY rock.
Portland Cement
Target Play Sand
Aragonite Caribsea Sand
Crystal 99.89 % Rock Salt
Told the wife it's not her if the toilet water looks different.!!
Now I did notice I had a couple bags of colored gravel from my freshwater tanks years ago (I can't throw anything away) and was wondering if upon anyones guess if it would add or subtract to the overall betterment of my DIY Creations.
Muriatic acid is a lower grade of hydrochloric acid. It contains contaminants that give it a yellowish color.Originally posted by Urban_Squrill
I was remember reading somewhere about people using muriatic acid in their curing tubs to make the rocks cure faster. Anyone have anymore information on this?
