(Para)Centropyge multifaciatus prove to be very difficult. They can be maintained long term, but the main challenge is finding a healthy (or close as possible) specimen to begin with, then trying to ween the fish onto prepared foods. It can be done, but I would not recommend it unless your willing to dedicate a QT to it (them), spend lots of time fattening them up, and have experience with delicate angels. If you buy one and try to add immediately to your DT (especially with other fish) the fish stands no chance at surviving. Regarding "reef-safe-ness," they will pick here and there but generally do not cause much damage. IME they've only nipped at SPS polyps.Originally posted by the_rider
Nobody have a multibar angel or any experience with them ? :S
Unfortunately this is a design flaw (IMO) on this light... they run 24/7, or until you unplug them. You can add a little timer to the fans so they come on/off when you want them to, here's a bit more info: http://www.reefbuilders.com/2009/04/29/cooling-fans-ati-sunpower-run-247/Originally posted by the_rider
For the fan, do you guys receive a little power supply with 5-6 adaptors at the end ?? Which one I'm suppose to take because two are fitting (black and green) but neither one start my fans. Are they suppose to be always on ? Or only when it's getting hot ?
You can always use a "space-saving" durso if necessary, some people call them "CL Standpipe." This is what I used and it's VERY easy to make and takes up half the room a Durso would normally. Steve detailed how to build them towards the bottom of this page: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1396999&perpage=&pagenumber=1Originally posted by the_rider
I think of going 14" x 6" x 8" for the external overflow, do you think it's ok ? I will have enough space to put 2 durso for my 1.5" drain ?

Sketch up looks great. What are you planning for flow?? Tunze or MP40w?? If MP40w, 2 on each side (next to your external overflow) will be great!!
If Tunze, then you might want to hide it by having the overfow box extended so your tunze can be hidden behind...
Hope I'm making sense here...

Are you using Tunze on your tank ? Are you pulsing the pump to create waves ? How high is your level from the edge ?
Thanks Ed![]()

Multibar:
Once acclimated and eating well all fish are hardy IME/IMO.
FWIW, I always assume all fish that come from LFS are not eating well (even if they ARE eating, they're not being fed enough) and have some parasites, as generally this is true. Also, if your in this "mindset" then you're always prepared when you bring home a new fish and QT accordingly, rather than the "dump and hope" approach, where one will bring home a fish from the LFS (assume it's eating and parasite free) and dump straight into the DT with establilshed existing fish, then hope for the best. This fish already has a very low chance of survival, even the hardiest of fish let alone a C. multifaciatus.
Your frag tank would be a perfect place to introduce fish in a low-stress environment and begin feeding them prepared foods without competition, however, you could not treat in this tank, and I highly recommend preventative treatments for fish, especially angelfish. I'm yet to keep/see a multibarred angelfish without flukes and/or internal parasites when initially imported.
You can have a great shot at this fish if you find a healthy specimen, and "approach accordingly." If you don't really, really want the fish, then I would look into other options as this one will require more time, patience and effort than many other species.

I'm using Tunze for my new tank. Usually i set them on internal II as I have 3 x streams pointing at the same direction and it able to create a small short wave about 2-3cm.
Water level to edge is 3-5cm (depending on the wave)

I also use Tunze, they have proven the quality of their pumps for a long time, and spare parts are easily available.
Ok, they are a bit bulky, but there are solutions for that, like Ed did
I also pulse my three 6101 and one 6201 Streams, waterlevel to edge is about 0.7" (2 cm) Never have problems with spillage, just aim the pumps right!
Good luck with the build, your ideas and plans look great.

Thank you Leonardo
I don't find them really bulky, I would have to play aroudn a lot not too spill any water lol

I also read in your thread that you got a multicontroller and a Profilux, any reasons you didn't connect the tunze directly to the profilux ?
