There's simply no organization on the zoa section here!

no but seriously what is up with the dang useless stickies. There are eleventeen threads of more or less the same nature.
Is an alphabetized list of oft asked questions too much to ask.
I mean if I were a total newbie to the salty side if the hobby, and I eventually find this zoa section... I wouldn't be able to find any damn useful or helpful information about polyps.
I'd rather have nothing, if even temporarily

Maybe some suggestions from all us users of this zoa section on what info you all think should be IN an all inclusive, comprehensive, but user friendly FAQ for this forum?

Just kidding, but I couldn't resist........

lmao...

Yes! I am officially a cry baby over this.

But really, It looks like a car wreck up in there don't you think?

I think the stickies would be more annoying if we actually filled the first page on a daily basis so the clutter was actually in the way.......but as it is it takes 4-5 days to fill the first page and more than half of the threads are the same old thing.

so I gotta agree that we just need to beat you harder until the crying stops...or beat you into finally setting up that reef tank ;)

IMO, sticky threads are a HUGE first impression of a site. They are suposed to be the threads you read first, before posting in the forum, that share most common info/rules of that particular forum.

They also directly, again- IMO, reflect how a site is run/maintained.

Although I love the zoanthid forum here on RC, I was very let down on the outdated/broken sticky topics. My first impression of the zoanthid forum wasnt good.

Sticky topics should be a role model for each individual forum. A couple of ours here in the zoanthid forum are very poor models.

I agree with Lilly- There is no organization in this part of the forum. Some try to make it organized, but how are posters suposed to try to follow forum guidlines when they havnt been updated/corrected in the first place.

The zoanthid information draft needs to be replaced (if it is even possible). I am pretty sure if we knew it was able to be changed/replaced, it would be by a RC member in short order. I have a feeling it cant be though....otherwise it probly would have been changed/fixed long ago.

It also seems people just dont read stickys anymore.....or maybe they see how broken some of them are and discard the rest.

At least there are a few good stickys up there. Now people just need to read them, not including the most important broken zoanthid information draft.

No offence tekknoschtev, just in case you read this- I understand its out of your hands.

It doesn't say anything about beating one's stalker here in the manual,
but I'm sure if you're uncharged of it it'll be great. *bats eyelashes*

Uh yes, I agree, when there're so many stickies that it's all new members can see when they open the zoa section...
...AND the links in those are broken?
Not good, and also just an everyday pita for members who aren't new. Because we can't just log in and see the main forum page anymore. Now we get a full window of stickies in the face (even worse with crackberries or iPhones) hence having to scroll down now to see the main forum page.

Lastly, I agree with (Saint) Patrick, first appearances ARE everything, in terms of a forum such as
this especially. And this section is way embarassing, and kinda sad.

What's the consensus on the ones that should be un-stuck? I've never liked having so many stickies either.

Hi Skipper, thanks.
In my opinion, both the Wrasses thread, and the toxicity threads can be taken down and simply incorporated into the current zoa general information sticky, as links.
Another new sticky thread can then be added called "zoa/zoa tank photographs and videos". And then all the photo threads can be links in that one.
This would take away three or four threads right off the bat, without actually deleting any threads.
:-)

I also think the zoanthid info draft needs to be replaced with somthing that is current, with the wrasse and toxicity added, as lily already recomended. I think it should be unstuck as soon as somthing to take its place is typed up.

Thx for popping your head in on the subject skipper. Glad to hear these posts can be changed.

Iridescentlily is a geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Yes it's true. Why do you think it's taking so long for a tank.
And by the way, say what you mean, don't tiptoe around, you zoa folks are always so reserved.

:hmm5:

lol, Saint Patrick, so true.

I am a geek as well.
I like IredescentLily's avatar from a year ago, sooo much better!
I would lose the wrasse, information and video sticky.
I would include an updated FW nudi dip sticky..or ways to kill the SOB's as well as another predator sticky/thread. If Mucho has no time to write the thread I am sure others will help.

I would increase the size of the ID thread to 22 bold and make it red! good luck geeks!

The categories under the information draft are kind of muddled too... It's a great idea, just requires some rearranging and category names.

Precautions
  • Toxicity
Identification
Compatibility
Lighting
Zoanthid health
  • Dipping
  • Diseases
  • Pests
  • Color
Feeding & Growth
Propagation

Im clearly not a geek. I just spend more time with my tanks than the few friends I do have and they all think I am weird

besides, gluing animals to rocks is not all that different than biting the heads off of chickens is it??

Phase one: zoa/paly pictures thread, video thread and tank pictures thread combined into one thread as a sticky.

Phase two: nudibranch eating wrasses added as a link in the zoanthid info draft thread and that thread was unstuck.
