Thermometer choice.

Hi, Can you please recommend a thermometer for my marine tank. Not very experienced and would appreciate your help.

Cant go wrong with the tried and true ebo-jager (now eheim-jager). I would stay far away from the hagen, aqueon and other el cheapos.

I believe he's asking for a thermometer, not a heater.

Those thermometer stickers you place on the side of the tank have never steered me wrong. They may not be the most precise, but a ballpark figure is all I'm looking for. There's a wide range of acceptable temperatures for a reef tank. You can't beat the price either. I think I paid $2.99 for the last one I bought. You don't have to worry about it breaking, it doesn't require batteries, etc.

Use an old school glass one. Don't use a digital, they're notoriously inaccurate.

^^^^ Never buy those cheap digitals. The old school glass one work well.

One thing I will never run a tank without though is a controller.
Highly recommend getting a controller to control your temp. I've baked tanks before with heater malfunctions.

I use the old school one myself. Just a thermometer with a suction cup. Pita when you can't get them to stick to the glass lol. Sometimes you'll find it floating around. Also, don't step on them, they don't seem to last very long after you do that
