These are not money cowries

I ordered a bunch of 'money cowries' from an online vendor. I was pretty excited to finally get my hands on some more of them as they can be difficult to find.

Well, this is what showed up. They're definitely not money cowries, but they're roughly the same size, and seem to move a bit faster - anyone have an ID?

those are Monetaria moneta commonly called money cowrie , the ones you are possibly thinking about are Monetaria annulus commonly known as ringed money cowrie

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification! I guess I've always seen the ones with the gold rings before.

Yep, these are the actual money cowries. Their behavior is pretty much the same as the Gold Ringer.

Yes, and both are fantastic snails. I have had them live for 5+ years at least.
