They bred!!!

My Yellow-Tailed Damsels have bred, or at least laid eggs!

I've had 3 of them in my 120g for the last 4 years since I set the tank up, and have never seen eggs before.

While cleaning the glass in the back of the tank, I noticed a huge mass of eggs on the glass being protected by one of the damsels.

Very cool!

Sorry for the poor photo. There's about a 10" space between the wall and the back of my tank, which makes it tough to get back there.

Congrats! My old pair used to flip over chalices and lay their eggs underneath them. Fortunately one of the two damsels mysteriously disappeared so now my chalices aren't being bothered anymore.

Mine have been spawning for what seems like about twice a month for nearly a year now. The female gets real pale around the mouth and starts chasing and nipping at the male who then follows her back to the spawning site to fertilize the eggs. She quickly shoos him out and the whole process starts again. This can go on for hours at a time. The horniest fish ever. :love2:
