They won't host!!!

I've got a healthy RBTA that is now about 6-8" when fully extended. I've got a pair of False Percs (Tank Raised) that have been in with the nem for a couple months. They don't even know what an anemone is because they were born in a breeding tank.

What are the chances that I can get then to host in the nem? Are there any ways that I can coax them in that direction?

Here they are.

I find squirting their food directly into/over the nem on a regular basis will get them more familiar with it...

I was in the same boat. Long story short, I bought a GSM that hosted immediately, then the occ did the next day.

Monkey see, monkey do. I don't think the occ would have ever hosted without the GSM's example.

But turning off the flow and squirting food into the nem might work. Esp if your clowns were really hungry.

I've tried the feeding over the anemone method a bit to no avail. I'll try turning the pumps off. If I could net them, I'd just introduce them :) j/k

They seem to hang out more on the side of the tank in which the anemone resides, but they never touch it. Then, they sleep on the totally oposite side of the tank.

I actually wanted a pair of true percs, but a guy in my reef club that owns an aquarium maintenance business had these guys in one of his office tanks for a couple months. I hated to pass on a pair that I knew were healthy for a couple that may or may not be.

I'm in the same situation as you. I bought a tank raised pair of fancy occelaris and they show no interest in my GBTA. I've had them for almost a month now, I,ve tried placing a clownfish shaped veggie clip next to the nem, I've placed pics of clowns and a pic of a clown in a nem next to the nem, I've target fed their food into the nem, I've chased them with a fish net to get them close to the nem, last night I put eggcrate in their territory and that got them to sleep on the side of the tank the nem is in, but today they went right back to their old territory!!! I think mine are just "special" if you know what I mean, lol.

I've heard it taking up to six months for CB clowns to host, so I've decided to quit torturing myself, I've tried for a month now and am at wits end.

Beautiful RBTA by the way!!!

My occelaris took about 2 months to host a LTA in a nano. My friend had a 50 gallon tank and it took about 6 months before his clowns hosted his BTA. Just may take some time.

Thank you. I doctored the brightness a bit, but it really has awesome color.

I will just keep hoping I wake up one morning and find them in the nem. Hopefully instincts will kick in one of these days.

Thanks for the responses.
