This was also in the presentation by Anthony Calfo. I too had been feeding large pieces of Krill and never seen them spit out, but he said they do it in the middle of the night.


Sanjay did give a brief review of the LED lights. His measurements showed it to be on par with a PC light. So pretty much softies and some LPS only. He did say that he thinks in 4 or 5 years they will be intense enough to rival MH though.

That little hang on deltec was cool, Very powerful for a little skimmer, and they had 2 types running on tanks. I really liked the $7,000 deltec though, that thing gave me a chubby.

I sunk 300 dollars in the raffle and did not win a thing but so is life. Also wasnt thrilled that the host club were allowed to do the raffle. Seems to me that everytime a company has a contest or what not employees and family members are void of entering. Just my opinion though hope I did not offend.

I was a little surprised at that too, but it was obvious that there was no unfair advantage in the drawing so I didn't worry about it.

I think you have a point - it did look kind of not-what-you're-used-to for the yellow T-shirts to get up and win - but I'm a MARSH member myself and I'm sure there was no cheating, these are good people who just wouldn't do that ---- plus they worked their behinds off to put on what I thought was a really great conference - Plus they missed a lot of great lectures in doing so --- I was glad to see a lot of them winning

Also we always have raffles at our meetings (like 20 items) and so I guess as a group we're a bit raffle addicted

Did you have a problem with the vendor winning 14 or so skimmers?

This was my first MACNA. Is it normal for the host club not to participate in the raffle, or did the club stand out with yellow shirts.

Well, I can't remember now who it was speaking .. but he kept saying mon-TIP-er-uh and I'm really not sure but I thought he also was saying ak-crow-POUR-a???

Whatever the case -- I know I just felt kind of dumb afterwards

I thought that was quite tacky! I personally don't think vendors should be prohibited at all from the raffle, but what he did (& has done before) is in bad taste IMO

I believe it was Mr. Borneman that pronounced them:

mon-tip-er-uh and
a-crop-er-uh

in one of the fragging videos floating around here.

FWIW, since most of the words we use are Latin, we must follow the (Latin) phoenetic convention for placing emphasis on the second to last syllable, usually. So to be correct (with latin roots):

acro-POUR-ah
monti-POUR-ah
Tube-ah-STRAY-ah

My daughter finished her third year of Latin last May, maybe I should consult her from now on - didn't even think of it

And to think 6 years of forced latin at prep school wouldn't do anything for me...I pronounced those correctly right out of the box. Thank you Professor Bernard!
