Think I killed my Birds nest yesterday

I did a total re-aquascape of my tank yesterday and I took out everything. all water, rock and coral. I just let the coral sit out with a wet paper towel on it for roughly 45 minutes. When I put it all back in the tank I noticed that one of the heads of my frogspawn and this birds nest were the two corals that werent responding well. After a full 36 hours of acclimation this is what it looks like

Sorry its so big. I use imgur and every pic I upload always come out big. As you can see half the coral is doing well and the other is completely white. Is there any hope of this regenerating? Should I move it higher or lower in the tank? I have it low now

I doubt it will survive but it might. Been there done that. Seriatorpora don't do well out of water . Less so than acros ,ime. 45 minutes would test any of them

That sucks... the good news is I have an another frag of it that survived, its much smaller and hasnt branched at all but better than losing both

I think it still can survive. I would cut off those dead branches just past the RTN'd part and it should be fine.

Unfortunately I just did the same thing too. Pulled all of my rock to get a eunicid worm that had taken up residence in the very bottom piece of base rock. Took longer than I expected, and now my two birdsnest are looking rough. Fingers crossed and lesson learned!

Yeah I thought so too;acros handle it better than seriatopora ,ime. Maybe they sit a bit lower in the water on the reefs.,although the literature indicates they live in shallow and deeper water. Maybe the y just don't slime for protection from drying as well as some aros do. Hope yours makes it.

U should try and dip it

In my experience, dipping a coral that is already struggling rarely helps and usually kills the coral completely.

We know it isn't pests, the problem was the extended dry out period. Give it time. If the tissue recession gets worse, cut the death off, and hope that the rest of the coral is healthy enough to recover.

It definitely looks like its in rough shape. Put it low in the tank and monitor it.

Good Luck
