Thinking about Duncans....

Any advice? I'm new to duncans but they look nice and I've been thinking about getting one. I have a 29g tank, 4x24w T5HO, Skimmer, other LPS do well in the tank. Placement? Everything I read seems to say they are not too demanding. Any first hand experiences? Pics?

Any help is appreciated.

if you feed them givem light and med current they are easy as pie .they can be acclimated to high light and high current also.current has allot to do with tentacle shape and size.ive seen some in high flow that lookesd like a lta.i like that i personally dont like the low flow stubby tentacles look.anyway they are easy and cheap now and if happy get a new head or two a month depending on feedings.they like minced foods best easier to digest then chunks.also keep calcium up for skellatal growth

Great coral! I wish I bought them a lot sooner. I started with 5 heads now I have several colonies. I just saw a colony at my LFS today smaller than some of my colonies and they were asking for 270 clams!

Looks like they have good prices!
I can picture you now, looking out your front window for the fedex guy every twenty minutes!
How many heads did you get?

Ha, too true. :D

I got one that has 6 polyps... 20 bucks. Thought that was a pretty good deal. I also ordered a green aussie lord acan... I love LPS... :D

You did well! I think I paid 35 clams for mine it was listed as 3 heads but had a few smaller bonus ones on it.

Here is a couple of pics of two of my colonies ...... Just to tease you and get you more excited about yours. The larger heads are silver dollar size.

I have been looking for the green acan lords . Let me know how they are. Also posted my red ones

Great corals - one of my favorites .... mine is in the center of the picture and was just two heads less than a year ago!

That thread was very informative. It seems I'm getting a pretty good deal. Perhaps they were more a 'fad' a few years ago and now are more common. Yours really looked worse for wear when they arrived but it gives me relief that they recovered so quickly. Thanks for sharing. Definitely exactly what I needed to read.

There are two other Green Lord Acans at www.coralprops.com. Both priced farily IMO. But I'll let you know how mine looks when it arrives. I'll share pics too, of course.

Rush they are great I started with two heads and now up to seven very fun to watch grow ad see new ones starting. like everyone has said very easy coral and does well in any ware just not direct flow medium is good and lighting can be any where.

Right on man, thanks for the tips. I'll keep you all updated.

Hi there, I purchased a Duncan coral a few days ago and I absolutely love it. I have a small zoa colony and a candy cane coral as well, but this guy has to be my favorite one as of right now :x Its not as intense in color as the other two, but its shape and the way it "sways" in the flow is great. Yesterday I spent a good 30 minutes just staring at it. Seems like the coral got adjusted to the tank super quick and was out in about an hour or so. Im still unsure if its eating properly, I put the phytofeast into the water column and I tried to feed it some oyster feast, but when the oyster hit the coral, it just closed up scared away. Im sure its eating, its just hard to tell sometimes. LOL

Anyways, here are some pictures (ps. the camera doesnt pick up the colors as well. The center is almost neon greenish slowly fading into a light purplish color)

Here is the Duncan

PS. I snagged this guy from the fish store because someone stuck it into the wrong tank. It was accidently in the $20 frag tank... but the owner said since its there I could get it for that much, otherwise when I would have left he said he'd put it in the right one...
