Thinking about Duncans....

Nice duncans. I feed mine 2X a week with bits of cut up wild caught shrimp. From 3 heads to over 60 in a year. It also gets flake food, pellets, mysis and brine shrimp. It grows fast enough that I have had to frag it twice in the time I have had it (2.5 years). Its getting to be frag time again.

feed the crap out of them and put them i n good flow .i fragged a single head for afreind 2 months ago.i have been feeding it every day with zoa and oysterfest soaked mysis and whole live grass shrimp and the head is 3 1/2 inches diameter.its tantacles look like pig tails all pik and curly.i fed him so much and he gets lots of extras in the high flow he has 5 new heads growing.my mother colony has like 30 heads.they grow fine if you dont feed them but the heads stay small and you dont get that large cartoon like sun ones wich i love get a pic soon. here is pics of xtra large dunkin head still growing 3 1/2 inches

Hey Rush, What the heck is going on ? You were so excited about getting this coral and all of the sudden you fell off the face of the earth.
Hope every thing is OK. It did not die in shipping did it? Hope not!

Let us know my friend!

Sorry fellas. I had a horrendous work week and was on call all weekend to top it off. I got everything alive but it was a bit cold out and the water was as well. Had me a bit concerned but everything has come around pretty well.

Ok, here we go.

Good packaging. Still in this weather the water in the bags was cold.

The first pic is the Duncan coral. Six polyps. As you can see they were closed up pretty tightly. Next to it, in the pic is a free ricordea mushroom. :lthumb:

And the next pic, the Green lord acan, also receeded, but not in bad shape.

After a few days of acclimation to the tank water, temp and lights, things started coming around.

The Duncan opening up a bit.

And the Green acan looking pretty good.

looks good Rush in a little time the 6 polyps will turn to like 12 and so on and so forth. Glad everything came in ok and are doing good. keep us updated on its progress.

Thanks guys. Quarantine is almost finished and I'll be putting them into the 29g soon. Hopefully they really take off once they've settled in. Thanks again to everyone who provided me with info and feedback. :D

Duncans have came down a lot in price over the years, super easy, spot feed them and watch them grow like weeds.

Will do. Yes, it seems they have come down in price. This piece, although not huge, is six heads and was only 20$. I was pretty happy with that.

UPDATE: After moving the Duncan over into the 29g where it will stay, it has opened up even further and looks very plump. It took some mysis last night and seems on track to be flourishing. Sidenote: The acans are also doing quite well. They too took some mysis and are looking nice and happy.
